Chiddy Bang formed when Anamege and Beresin met at Drexel University in 2008. After months of support from underground music blogs, the pair released their debut mixtape The Swelly Express via blog Pretty Much Amazing. The release was met with widespread acclaim and led to the group signing a recording contract with EMI in January 2010.
Their first commercial single on the label taken from their The Swelly Express mixtape, Opposite of Adults, samples the Brooklyn group MGMT's 'Kids' and was released on February 21, 2010 in the UK. It reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and later peaked at 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. A second single from the mixtape titled Truth was released in the UK and peaked at number 50. Following this success, Chiddy Bang released a second mixtape exclusively within the UK featuring remixes and adaptations of popular British artists including tinie tempah, ellie goulding and kate nash.
In October 2010 the pair released Chiddy Bang: The Preview - an EP consisting of previous singles and new material - serving as a prelude to their debut album scheduled for release in Spring 2011.
The Mind Your Manners Songfacts states that Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege broke the world record for the longest freestyle on April 28, 2011. His freestyle lasted 9 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds, supported by looped beats played by Xaphoon, beating the previous longest time by three minutes.

We work hard, I ain't askin for a hand out.
If I hit the booth, I ain't have to pass the grams out.
And be the well, when the other thoughts ran out
They say they lost words, I got 'em puzzled like a crossword.
Harvard, I'm nuts, George Washington carver.
But you could never pay your boss peanuts.
If it gets messy, be prepared for the clean up.
Cuz You could get notoriety and still ride the train.
Makin in its entirety, and search for the fame.
I'm still Micheal Phelps, swimmin in my lane.
Wheres Lois? Me? I'm Superman, I'm just here to save the day.
Or at least I thought I was. Till I--
Flew in to save her, and I met my opponent.
I'm fightin with myself, don't offer the condolence.
I'm dreamin.
[Chorus]
We chasin' a dream,
So what is life?
The diamonds and the gleam,
Get a job while I'm doin it,
Promise to stay true in it,
Doin it, but never let another soul ruin it,
And things ain't what they seem.
Make money to spend it, I got my scheme.
Work hard while we doin it.
Promise to stay true in it,
Doin it, but never let another soul ruin it.
It's too haunting, the task is daunting,
Trying to get the labels on board, while flaunting.
But, lets make some music. Make some money.
Get the rides, European ties, have models for wives.
Sometimes I feel faded to pretend, unsafe because cuz my crib is far from gated in.
I'm a relic, but lean slightly to psychedelic.
If I could take off, would you consider me angelic?
Hysteric.
I'm the subject and the predicate. They hatin on me, tell me wheres the etiquette.
If you Goliath, I don't need to prove I'm better than.
I play David, I'm a fourth year letterman.
So Letterman, Can't you hear me knocking on the door?
Hard to breathe at this altitude where the oxygen is poor.
Think Benz. I don't know what Pontiac means.
And this is what happens when an insomniac dreams.
[Chorus]
The lyrics in Chiddy Bang's song Dream Chasin' reflect the pursuit of success through hard work and determination. The opening lines suggest the importance of self-sufficiency, with the artist asserting that he does not need to rely on drug dealing to achieve his goals. He draws on several cultural references throughout the song. For example, the line "Harvard, I'm nuts, George Washington Carver," suggests that the artist is smart and resourceful, like the inventor George Washington Carver. The line "Where's Lois? Me? I'm Superman, I'm just here to save the day," references the comic book superhero and suggests that the singer sees himself as a hero or a savior.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself and not letting others ruin one's dreams. The artist is committed to working hard towards his goals, but acknowledges that success is a complex and elusive idea. He suggests that success can be isolating, and that it's important to remain grounded despite the material rewards that come with it.
Overall, the lyrics in Dream Chasin' reflect the artist's determination to succeed despite the challenges he faces. The song emphasizes the importance of hard work, self-sufficiency, and staying true to oneself.
