They were signed by local label sink and stove records though this was short-lived and the band joined Island Records though ultimately they were dropped and are currently with Kitty-Yo records. This European label has helped them break further into Europe where they were already popular and much of their earlier catalogue has now been re-released on this label.
The band are now set to release new material on their own Urban Cow label, home of their first EP Telephone Heroes.
Contrary to their current style, the band played more funk than anything else early on though gradually moved towards a more popular style and eventually went over to a more electronic / pop sound that they maintain today. After the loss of Luke, Trevor ultimately became a second keyboard/ sequencer player and this leads to the band's unique sound. Since they have no bass player, and Ed has taken over as the lead guitarist, the two keyboards provide a combination of melody and rhythm sections. Furthermore, the band has a strong sense of musical structure (both Trevor and Boris obtained their degrees in Music) and all five members are song writers.
On stage they are dramatic, Rupert especially is prone to leaving the stage and performing from amongst the audience, and all are at their peak when launching into something akin to a group 'solo'.
'You Said' will be released on Urban Cow on May 8th 2006,. This will be backed with 'Nasty Side' and will be limited edition only. The band will be touring around the UK to support this. Check their site for details.
You Said

But how long must you wait for some emotion to flow out of my head?
How long?
These walls are so thin, I keep my secrets in.
But when I took the walls apart, I didn't mean to break your heart.
You said you've tried everything to get in my head.
And you said, how long (how long) when you open up your eyes to the sun, will rain come?
Don't leave me on my own in this gossip ridden town.
Don't leave me all alone spinning endlessly around.
You wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
You wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
You said that you're scared of every step that you tread.
And you said like me everything is not what it may seem.
How long until you leave me all alone with my fences falling down?
I'll be screaming on my own in this gossip ridden town.
You wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
You wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
(la la la la la la, la la la la la la, la la la la la la, la la la la la la)
You said that!
You wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
I wish I would let you in, well let me let you in.
I let you under my skin, just let me let you in.
The lyrics of Chikinki's song "You Said" touch on the theme of emotional walls and the difficulties of letting someone in. The lyrics start with the singer addressing someone who has been waiting for them in their bed. The singer acknowledges that they keep their emotions guarded behind walls that are thin enough to hear through but hard to penetrate. They express that they didn't mean to hurt this person and break their heart by keeping their distance emotionally.
The second verse has the other person trying to explain that they have been trying everything to get through to the singer. They express how they feel scared about every step they take and how nothing is as it seems. The chorus of the song repeats the plea to not leave the singer alone in a "gossip-ridden town" and asks to be let in.
The bridge of the song features the use of "la la la's" and repeats the chorus in a more repetitive manner. The final verse has the other person saying that they too are scared about what is to come and asks how long until they are left alone in a similar way. The chorus repeats the plea to be let in and concludes with the singer asking the other person to let them let them in.
Overall, the lyrics of "You Said" are about the struggles that people face when trying to connect with one another emotionally. The song explores the desire to open up to another person, but also the struggle and fear of what that might entail.
