Childish Gambino Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Got a new whip, homie I got two of those
Got some green, homie we got UFO's
We the new chick, Royalty man
You ain't know?
Somebody tell 'em we ain't
Never going nowhere
Mr cEO, I give a fuck about a co-chair
Though droppin' with the hottest shit
No time to do the video
ATL is my city, though, East Side bitch
Getting Cortez at Stonecrest
I'm East Side rich
But my old girl Laconia, my house California
You ain't heard the news? D-Money back on ya
Niggas wanna network
Cause I'm the only rapper with
His face on a network
Fuckin' check my net worth tell
'em what the check's worth
Go and let 'em know
Touch down and I leave your city tore up
Then I'm coming home to my
Girls on the tour bus
But then I'm gone again, more shows
More bucks
Ten times your cut, bein' broke sure sucks
Opportunity, I've never seen a door shut
Get it for my fam so
My daddy ain't a Warbuck
Summer coming so I hit 'em with the warm up
Ballin' in my sweat suit
I'm tryin' to get my form up
I ain't think we was ballin' 'til
Private jets to New Orleans
My girlfriend on and on 'em
Caught 'em fallin' like Autumn god damnit
Yeah get up on it yeah man the truth hurts
Think fast, shoot first, beast like blue fur
All we do is do this, yeah
Ay, ay childish Gambino
Here we go, Harry Fraud
Yo we got a shout out for him yo
Jesus, he's still around? That
Makes two of us
Rappers who fuckin' hate me still
Wanna stop my tour bus
Rappers who call me gimmick still post
Me and troll the comments
20 shots of that honesty
I'm tryin' to control the vomit
Ugh, nauseum, eat a dick, all of 'em
'Bino does it feel good? Is
East Side still hood? Haters never mutual
Boy that's for your man's sake
I don't see it like a
Pusha T and Wayne handshake
Pop or flop mobsters, we ain't do neither
Why these dudes want a mixtape, Shaq Diesel?
The truth is what you make it and lately
It's hard to find
Will they remember "Heartbeat" like it
Was "Party All the Time"?
I know, I know, I know
It's that run it back
I just rocked 10K, where my hundred at?
My homie reppin' KFlay at the Summer Jam
And they show me love somethin' serious
And I was just a kid, man
I ain't think they hearin' us
And Mase shook my hand and I'm shook
Cause my man still with Biggie
And Gambino just a fan
I'mma tell you something true
If you ain't got a bunch of haters, man
Then you ain't doing you
And this fake fuckin' rappers wanna
Fire shots for no reason
I could've helped you, but fuck it
I'm callin' open season
This ain't subliminal
I'm comin' right at you
But no one knows who you are
So I'm rapping at fuckin' statues
You gassed cause you got a meetin'? Crew
Is a never heard of you
Your drive is a learner's permit
Your beef is a veggie burger
Verbal murder? Nah
We just tell what the truth homie
I'm with my girl in Spain
What are you doing?
Fuck it boy, we don't get enough joy
Watchin' everyone I know makin'
Major bok choy
Royalty, only two of us are fuckin' rappers
Another runs Wordpress, another does Apple
Another's DT and drinkin', talkin'
On that cheddar you wonder who we are
That means you already met us
I'm everywhere nigga
I don't need the fuckin' throne
I don't need Illuminati
I could fucking start my own
Cause I'm Childish, Childish, Childish
Childish Gambino
Westwood, Westwood, so it's all good
Yo Childish Gambino, East Side let 'em know
The lyrics of Childish Gambino's song "Tim Westwood Freestyle" showcase his confidence and success in the rap game. He starts by boasting about his new clothes and two new cars, as well as the abundance of wealth by referencing "green" and "UFOs." Gambino identifies himself as part of the new generation of artists, specifically mentioning his group Royalty, and asserts that they're here to stay.
He further establishes his dominance by dismissing the importance of positions in the music industry, claiming to be a CEO who doesn't care about sharing power with others. Gambino highlights his fly and impressive skills and recounts his rise to success, dropping hot tracks consistently and neglecting to make music videos due to his busy schedule. He proudly represents his hometown of Atlanta (ATL) and the East Side, boasting about his wealth and living a luxurious life.
Gambino mentions some personal connections and experiences, referencing places like Stonecrest and California. He talks about D-Money's return and how other rappers want to collaborate with him because he's the only one with a network platform. He emphasizes his financial success and mocks those who have inferior earnings. There's a sense of determination and ambition in his lyrics, with Gambino describing how he tours, makes money, and aims to provide for his family.
In the second verse, Gambino addresses the criticism he faces from other rappers who perceive him as a gimmick. He questions if people still view him as representing the East Side and asserts that haters are not mutual, implying that they envy his success. He mentions Pusha T and Lil Wayne's handshake as an example of fake friendships in the industry. Gambino takes pride in not becoming a popular artist overnight like Shaq Diesel (Shaq's failed rap career) and highlights the importance of personal growth and authenticity.
He reflects on his journey, mentioning his older song "Heartbeat" and comparing its long-lasting impact to Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time." Gambino recalls his rise to fame and receiving recognition from notable artists such as Mase, who shook his hand. He also comments on the insincerity of certain rappers who want to start unnecessary feuds. Gambino believes that having haters is a sign of personal success and expresses his willingness to engage with them through his music.
Gambino concludes the verse by asserting his authenticity and reveals his disinterest in fame and Illuminati allegiances. He asserts that he doesn't need anyone else's validation and can create his own legacy. The final lines signify Gambino's omnipresence and the impact he wants to make in the rap industry.
