Their indie debut, a 6-track EP titled Places I Don't Want To Go, was self-released in 2004.
After a few years of trying, they finally won the music tournament at Club 3 Degrees, a premiere Christian music club in Minneapolis, in may of 2005. Almost a year later, in March of 2006, they self-released Songs of Desperation, an 8 track EP, featuring the fan favorite "The Cowboy Song."
In early 2007 the band announced that they had signed with the Christian record label Tooth & Nail Records. The band released their first full length CD, which was self-titled, in February of 2008, under the T&N label. Three songs from "Songs of Desperation," as well as a couple crowd favorites we recorded onto this album.
They have since released two more albums with Tooth & Nail Records:
"Rain's 'A Comin'"; in 2010
"On The Run", in 2012

Homemade Valentine
Children 18:3 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They let us down
It's all going down again
In the end, there was nothing left but questions
What started as a revolution
Petered out in guilt and shame
We were at the helm of something big
It seems impossible that we should lose everything
Are you the only stranger?
And have you not seen?
We pasted all our hopes on him
Like the paper hearts on a homemade valentine
We wasted all our hopes on a whim
They let us down
It's all going down again
Still it's only three days past
Our king was cast and hope won't last
But it was so much more than memories to haunt the past
Tell me if you understand
What could have been, whatshould have been
And if there's comfort anywhere
It's resting now beneath the sand
Are you the only stranger?
And have you not seen?
We pasted all our hopes on him
Like the paper hearts on a homemade valentine
We wasted all our hopes on a whim
They let us down
It's all going down again
Oh, so foolish
Oh, hearts so hard
The foolish remind that hearts are blind
(The bullets remind their hearts of bullets)
Would you open your mind and see?
The lyrics to Children 18:3's song "Homemade Valentine" convey a sense of disappointment and disillusionment in the face of failed hopes and unfulfilled promises. The first verse sets the tone with the lines "We wasted all our hopes on a whim/ They let us down/ It's all going down again." This suggests that the singer had high hopes for something but was ultimately let down and now feels like they're in the same situation again.
The second verse speaks to the singer's desire for change and their belief that they were part of something big. The lines "We were set to change the world/ We were at the helm of something big/ It seems impossible that we should lose everything" make it clear that the singer was invested in a cause or movement that they believed could have a significant impact, but something went wrong and they lost everything they had worked for. The chorus repeats the idea of wasted hopes, with the added metaphor of a "homemade valentine" that ultimately falls short.
The third verse seems to be grappling with questions about what could have been done differently and whether any comfort can be found in the aftermath of the disappointment. The lines "Tell me if you understand/ What could have been, what should have been/ And if there's comfort anywhere/ It's resting now beneath the sand" suggest a sense of regret and a longing for a different outcome. The final lines encourage the listener to be open-minded and see beyond the blindspots that can lead to disappointment and heartache.
Overall, the song seems to be an expression of the pain and frustration that comes when our hopes and dreams are dashed, despite our best efforts. It recognizes the power of hope to sustain us, but also acknowledges the danger of investing too much in something that ultimately falls short.
