Children of Bodom Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everything is frail, I desolate, crush, and burn
I have chosen darkness to be my guide
War is in my heart, death is by my side
[Chorus]
War heart! With no remains of compassion or love
War heart! Hate your fellow as yourself
I have chosen night to be my guide
When the daylight strikes, I hide in my trench and die
[Chorus]
I'm the war heart, I'm dying to win the battle I live everyday
One for all and all for me, I'm an animal, better set me free
The lyrics of Children of Bodom's song "Warheart" are a reflection of the inner turmoil and isolation that the singer of the song feels. He is an outcast on the path of rebound and the fragility of everything around him makes him feel even more alone. The crushing weight of despair and hopelessness that he carries with him has driven him to embrace darkness and to welcome death as his constant companion.
The "war" that he carries in his heart is not just a physical battle but a psychological one as well. He has become so consumed by hate and anger that he has lost all sense of compassion and love for his fellow humans. The chorus of the song emphasizes this sentiment, urging the listener to hate their fellow humans as themselves. The singer has chosen to embrace the night as his guide and to hide away when daylight strikes. He sees himself as a warrior, fighting a battle every day, and he longs to be set free from his animalistic nature.
Overall, the lyrics of "Warheart" are a bleak and nihilistic portrayal of a person who feels disconnected from the rest of humanity and has given up on finding any meaning or purpose in life.
