Twilight
Chill In India Vol.2 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I look into his eyes
They're closed but I see something
A teacher told me why
I laugh when old men cry

My body grows and grows
It frightens me you know
Old man tried to walk me home
I thought he should have known

Twilight
Twilight, lost my way
Twilight, can't find my way

In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man
In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man
In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man
In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man

I'm running in the rain
I'm caught in a late night play
It's all, it's everything
I'm soaking through the skin

Twilight darkened day
Twilight lost my way
Twilight night and day
Twilight can't find my way

Can't find your way
Can't find my way
Can't find your way

Twilight darkened day
Twilight lost my way
Twilight night and day
Twilight can't find my way

In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man
In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man

In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man
In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man

Overall Meaning

In "Twilight" by Chill In India Vol.2, the singer is struggling with growing up and navigating the complexities of the world around him. He sees something in a man's closed eyes that a teacher once explained to him but also finds himself confusingly laughing when he witnesses the vulnerability of old men. He is growing rapidly, and the physical changes frighten him, especially when an old man tries to walk him home - someone who should have already known how to navigate the world.

The title "Twilight" refers to an in-between state, where darkness is descending but it's not quite nighttime. This metaphor is extended to the singer's own life, where he feels lost and can't find his way. He's figuratively running in the rain, caught up in a late-night play, and soaking through the skin - all reflecting the discomfort and confusion he feels.

The repeated chorus and the line "In the shadow (shadow) boy meets man" show the singer's grappling with his own identity and growing up. He's existing in a liminal space, not quite a boy anymore but not yet a man, and trying to find his place in the world. The shadow could also represent the difficulties he faces, both internal and external, that he can't fully see or comprehend yet.
