In the song "Pardonner," Chimène Badi sings of the desire to move forward and forgive, even in the face of past heartbreak and pain. She suggests meeting again at the place where goodbyes were said, and starting anew by first deceiving oneself before speaking the truth. This may involve coming to terms with the worst moments and experiences, including those in which time and the heart seemed to have failed. However, despite the heaviness of these emotions, forgiveness is still possible and necessary to be able to love again.
Through forgiveness, it's possible to heal wounds and find hope for the future. Badi portrays a sort of reconciliation - with oneself, with the past, and with the idea that although love can be difficult and even devastating at times, it's still worth pursuing. She acknowledges that accepting pain along with joy is part and parcel of loving another deeply. Pardonner thus becomes not just an act of pardon or absolution, but a moment of choosing to be loved - and to love - despite the uncertainties that surround relationships.
