Klara
Chinoy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Clara dame un beso
En la cama
Nuestra es toda la mañana (x2)

Afuera penando el sismo
La cuidad mentalizada
Las noticias de la plaga
Las normas matando al ritmo

Las leyes con su sadismo
Pernos de la maquinaria
Novias cansadas de rabia
Santos del escepticismo

Con la pala el pesimismo
Que la cara sale cara
Que hasta la sombra sin ganas
Que la espera hacia el abismo

Que marxismo que fascismo
Que la broma sanguinaria
Que la espalda dromedaria
Que el disparo hacia sí mismo

Clara dame un beso
En la cama
Nuestra es toda la mañana (x2)

Adentro ningún modismo
La carne totalitaria
Las orillas de la dama
Donde en casi todo existo

Las fotos del optimismo
Las sonrisas de una hazaña
Tú me sacas las lagañas
Las migajas donde pinto

La boca de lo más limpio
Eso fuera de la raya
Que los dos haciendo cama
Que despierto no me he visto

Que colchón del trapecismo
Que la puerta bien cerrada
Que la lengua solidaria
Que matando el egoísmo

Clara dame un beso

En la cama
Nuestra es toda la mañana (x4)

Overall Meaning

The song “Klara” of Chinoy talks about the escape of two lovers from the outside world, where they can be free from the rules and norms that control and inhibit them. The first stanza depicts the outside world as a suffering society, wherein everything and everyone struggles. There is chaos brought by the earthquake, the mentally-challenged city, and the news about the plague. The norms that restrict them are killing their freedom, and the sadistic laws and perverted machinery are pushing them towards pessimism.

Under the sheet, however, there is no more formality nor dictatorship of the outside world. They are both just enjoying the moment, love, and the freedom they share. There is no space for pessimism, Marxism nor fascism, just genuine love in bed. The second stanza portrays a more personal picture of the lovers’ escape - their shared joy, triumphs, and even mishaps. They find solace in each other's arms; all mundane things like pictures, smiles, and other things that give them hope, they share. Like a refuge, they are in control, and everything is perfect until the outside world knocks on the door.

Overall, the song “Klara” is a romantic and melancholic description of an escape to freedom from the outside world. Through the portrayal of the outside world, the song highlights the different societal issues, struggles, and sufferings, all of which the lovers try to escape.
