“My show is very simple, what you see is what you get. If you come to my show, then I know you came to hear some real singing and to have a good time. I'm not a dancer; I'm a storyteller and a dreamer. I share these things with you onstage, it is just that simple.” Says Chinua.
Chinua has released three independent CDs and has just completed his fourth CD, A Beautifully Complicated Life produced and arranged by Joseph Patrick Moore (Earl Klugh, Stewart Copeland, Bob James). The new CD is slated for world wide release on March 13, 2012.
Mr. Hawk’s work has been heard on television shows such as CBS Joan of Arcadia, and movies such as “First Sunday” and Dave Chapelles “Block Party”. He has also written songs with Wyclef Jean, performed backing vocals on his CD “The Preachers Son” and worked in the studio with producer/rapper Kanye West on rapper Talib Kweli’s song “Just To Get By”.
Chinua’s other accomplishments include winning the Billboard Magazine/Disc Makers Independent Music World Series beating out over 1,000 bands with just a guitar player to accompany him. In addition, he was named the APCA Multi- Cultural Artist of the year 2005, 2006; APCA Best Cultural Fine Arts Artist 2008; APCA Performer of the year 2008 and APCA Best Male Solo Performer 2009.
Sailing
Chinua Hawk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me.
It′s not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Fantasy, it gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony
Won′t you believe me?
Sailing takes me away to where I′ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Well it's not far back to sanity, at least it′s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find serenity
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me.
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
In Chinua Hawk's song "Sailing", the lyrics depict the idea that paradise is not far away, and if the wind is right, we can effortlessly sail away to find tranquility. The song compares the voyage of sailing to a realm of imagination where innocence and freedom can be found. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be, just a dream and the wind to carry me", emphasizing the idea of escape and the search for something better.
The idea of sailing in the song resonates with the concept of freedom and taking control of one's life. The canvas sail represents the possibilities that lie ahead, and the wind epitomizes the journey towards achieving those possibilities. The lyrics emphasize the importance of believing in oneself and taking the necessary steps to follow our dreams. The line, "Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see. Believe me," encourages us to have faith in the journey as it can lead us to miraculous outcomes.
The second verse of the song highlights the idea of fantasy and how it can get the best of us. The lyrics, "All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony" depict the beauty of imagination and the idea that every thought and wish can be a beautiful melody. The chorus of the song repeats, emphasizing that sailing can help us find where we've always wanted to be, where the wind can carry us towards our goals.
Overall, the song Sailing serves as a clarion call to embrace freedom and the journey towards achieving one's dreams. The lyrics inspire us to believe in the possibilities of the unknown and to ride the winds of change to find our true selves.
