No More

No more tests
Comes the day you say, 'What for?'
Please no more
We disappoint, we disappear, we die, but we don't
They disappoint in turn, I fear
Forgive, though, they won't
No more riddles
No more jests
No more curses you can't undo, left by fathers you never knew
No more quests
No more feelings. Time to shut the door
Just No more
Running away, let's do it
Free from the ties that bind
No more despair, or burdens to bear
Out there in the yonder
Running away, go to it
Where did you have in mind?
Have to take care unless there's a 'where'
You'll only be wandering blind
Just more questions different kind
Where are we to go?
Where are we ever to go?
Running away, we'll do it
Why sit around, resigned?
Trouble is, son, the farther you run
The more you'll be wandering blind
For what you have left undone, and more
What you've left behind
We disappoint, we leave a mess, we die, but we don't
We disappoint in turn, I guess. Forget, though, we won't
Like father, like son
No more giants waging war
Can't we just pursue our lives, with our children and our wives
'Till that happy day arrives, how do you ignore
All the witches, all the curses
All the wolves, all the lies, the false hopes, the good-bye's
The reverses
All the wondering what even worse is still in store
All the children
All the giants
No more
The song "No More" from the musical "Into the Woods" is a poignant number that captures the characters' yearning for a life free from the challenges and heartbreak they've faced. The lyrics begin with a plea for an end to the questioning and testing that the characters have endured, as they try to make sense of their complicated lives. The lines "We disappoint, we disappear, we die, but we don't / They disappoint in turn, I fear / Forgive, though, they won't" speak to the cyclical nature of life - how we all make mistakes and hurt others, but are also hurt by those around us.
As the song progresses, the characters express their desire to run away and escape from their problems. They dream of a life free from burdens and despair, but also acknowledge that running away won't solve everything. The lines "Where are we to go? / Where are we ever to go?" highlight the characters' uncertainty about their future, and the fact that even if they do run away, they may never find the answers they seek. Ultimately, the song ends on a note of acceptance - that life is messy and complicated, but there's no use ignoring the challenges we face.

2 things: He still sounds as great as he did in 88, and the fact he still has the hat is what got me at the end. Chip Zien is legendary

He needs to play the old man/narrator someday so he can have played both parts in this amazing duet✨
@clayflix9569

IS THAT THE BAKERS HAT IN THE BACK
@DocPortland
It’s rare that such a voice is perfect for a role.
@hospitalgal101
So. I got emotional as soon as he appeared on screen. It's hard for me to see these legends age. I have him pictured as his original Into The Woods self and it's sad to see time moving on and nothing is forever.
@JBeeship
His voice is as ageless as that moment in time when he played the baker. He has an impeccable voice.
