And all the clubs you get in using my name
You think you broke my heart, oh, boy for goodness′ sake
You think I'm crying on my own.
Well, I ain′t
And I didn't wanna write a song
'Cause I didn′t want anyone thinking that I still care. I don′t,
And, baby, I be movin' on
And I think you should be somethin′ that I don't wanna hold back,
Maybe you should know that
My mama don′t like you and she likes everyone
And I never like to admit that I was wrong
I've been so caught up in my job,
I Didn′t see what's going on
Now I know,
I'm better sleeping on my own
′Cause if you like the way you look that much
Oh, baby, you should go and love yourself
And if you think that I′m still holdin' on to somethin′
You should go and love yourself
When you told me that you hated my friends
The only problem was with you and not them
And every time you told me my opinion was wrong
And tried to make me forget where I came from
And I didn't wanna write a song
′Cause I didn't want anyone thinking that I still care. I don′t,
But you still hit my phone up
And, baby, I be movin' on
And I think you should be somethin' that I don′t want to hold back,
Maybe you should know that
My mama don′t like you and she likes everyone
And I never like to admit that I was wrong
I've been so caught up in my job,
Didn′t see what's going on
Now I know,
I′m better sleeping on my own
'Cause if you like the way you look that much
Oh, baby, you should go and love yourself
And if you think that I′m still holdin' on to somethin'
You should go and love yourself
For all the times that you made me feel small
I fell in love. Now I feel nothin′ at all
I never felt so low when I was vulnerable
Was I a fool to let you break down my walls?
′Cause if you like the way you look that much
Oh, baby, you should go and love yourself
And if you think that I'm still holdin′ on to somethin' baby
You should go and love yourself
′Cause if you like the way you look that much
Oh, baby, you should go and love yourself
And if you think m that I'm still holdin′ on to somethin' baby
You should go and love yourself
Chlara's song "Love Yourself" is a powerful break-up anthem about letting go of a toxic relationship after being repeatedly hurt by someone who did not appreciate her worth. In the first verse, she addresses her ex and reminds him of all the times he let her down: raining on her parade, using her name to get into clubs, and thinking he broke her heart. She asserts her strength by declaring that she is not crying on her own and that she is moving on.
The chorus contains the central message of the song, which is self-love and self-respect. Chlara tells her ex that if he likes the way he looks so much, he should love himself, and if he thinks she is still holding on to something, he should go and love himself. This is a powerful statement about the importance of valuing oneself and recognizing when a relationship is not worth holding onto.
In the second verse, Chlara addresses some of the specific issues in the relationship, such as her ex's dislike of her friends and his attempts to control her opinion. She admits to being vulnerable and falling in love, but ultimately realizes that she is better off on her own. She ends the song by questioning whether she was a fool to let him break down her walls, but ultimately concludes that the best way forward is to love herself.
