Ave Maria,
Gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
Et benedictus, fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
Sancta Maria, sancta Maria, Maria,
Ora pro nobis, nobis peccatoribus,
Nunc et in hora, in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen. Amen.
Overall Meaning

Chloe Agnew's song "Ave Maria" is a beautiful interpretation of the classic hymn. In these lyrics, she is calling upon the mother of Jesus, Mary, as she beseeches her to intercede on behalf of human sinners. The first few lines of the hymn are in Latin, and they translate to "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." This is the traditional opening of the Hail Mary prayer in Catholicism. Here, Agnew is acknowledging Mary's special status as the mother of Jesus, treating her with great reverence and respect, and asking for her help in bringing grace and mercy to humanity.

As the song progresses, we hear Agnew repeating the praises of Mary. She refers to her as "sancta," meaning holy or saintly, and asks her to pray for all sinners - "nobis peccatoribus." She also acknowledges her own mortality, asking Mary to be with her "in hora mortis nostrae" or "at the hour of our death." Finally, the hymn ends with "Amen," which simply means "so be it" (or "let it be done"). Overall, "Ave Maria" is a powerful and moving song, offering comfort to those who are struggling and seeking solace in the love of God.

Seventeen years later and I still think this is one of the most beautiful renditions of Ave Maria I've ever heard.

My six year old daughter told me the other day right now, Mom don't be sad for them, they get to celebrate Christmas with Jesus! How cool is that for them. Mouths of babes.

Wow - when Chloe opens her mouth to sing I think the sea must pause to listen and the wind holds its breath until the end...time just disappears. I just read what I typed and I'm sticking with it - I must be a fan now..
