Chords, or Jens Resch, which is his real name, was born in 1978 in Sweden. He grew up in the realtively small town called Lund, where music became a growing interest at an early age. Being only 14 years old, he started to write his own lyrics as he listened to beats and came up with rhymes to match them. He socialized with people like the wellknown Swedish producer Måns Asplund (Breakmecanix) and by the age of 16, Chords recorded his first songs in the studio.
He was only ten years old then, but was already being influenced and inspired by hiphopers like Run DMC. Nowdays, you’ll most likely hear old soul classics, hiphop and reagge coming out of his stereo. His passion for music has always been present, although he has both worked and studied other things along the way. He even worked extra at Juju Records, the record label he’s now signed to.
Formely with the duo Chords & Scissors, Chords is now working solo, with guestperformers from wellknown Swedish hiphop artists like Timbuktu and LoopTroops Promoe. Chords 12” single, “Idiot Savant” was the first single from his debut album that came out in 2003, and the first release since being signed with Juju Records in 2001.
Chords was accepted to a university of journalism in the states. But instead, he chose a music career and an invitation to accompany Swedish hiphopers LoopTroop on their tour in 2001. Chords is certain of one thing,
He writes his lyrics in English because the words and rhymes come natural to him in English for some reason. Collaborations with Swedish rapper Organism 12, has resulted in some Swedish lyrics and they've even released an EP together as Smuts & Co.
Like most creative people, Chords strives for inspiration and says he has always written rhymes because it has felt good and not because he has been on the search for a record deal. But when Juju Records offered him one in 2001, he accepted. Chords has previously both recorded with Juju Records founder, hiphop artist Timbuktu, and received good reviews as the ultimate backup for Timbuktu and Dj Amato on tour.
In 2006 he released his debutalbum "The Garden Around The Mansion" in the US, trough Empire Musikwerks. He also went on a critically acclaimed tour with the reggae-group Helt Off which he is a part of.

I told the new work sat back
Grab my pen and pack
You, you walked down seventh ave
Every bone I hide in me
Felt like heading back
[Hook]
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
Since I saw you
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
Since I saw you
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
I've been thinking, thinking of you
Wishing that I could've stayed
I can see our house in the plain
And I flew over head on my way back home
Had a vision of you sleeping there
When the curtains drawn and the turned off phone
I wish that I could stay a little longer
But I guess that's how we do
Say warrup to the boys in Chicago
Send my love to the Mali crew
I'll be back for the next full moon
Right now I'll work till dawn
Ripping up some fresh new tunes
In the stu' when the curtains drawn
But when the music dies down
Everything around me fades to black
And all I see is that image of you
With the smile on your faces as you wave to the cab
[Hook x2]
Since I saw you
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
Since I saw you
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
Since I saw you
Since I saw you
Since I saw you walk away
I've been thinking, thinking of you
Wishing that I could've stayed
I sit in this faded light
I've been working to get by
Grinding day and night
Still my mind is in that yellow cab
Watching as you disappear
Down seventh ave
Walk Away by Chords is a song about longing and regret after a sudden separation. The lyrics narrate the perspective of the singer, who reminisces about a past encounter with a person they care about, most likely a romantic partner. The song tells the story of how the singer hopped into a yellow taxi and lamented as they watched the person walk away. As they ride through the city, the singer looks back at the place where they shared memories together and expresses the feeling of wanting to go back to those moments. He also has a vision of the person sleeping while he looks down on the house from a plane. The chorus of the song encapsulates the core message of the lyrics, which is the regret of letting the person walk away and wanting to make amends.
The song is a poignant declaration of love beyond the distance, and the sonorous voice of the singer accentuates the melancholic tone of the lyrics. The slow tempo and the instrumental elements of the song create an appropriate background that heightens the mood of the song. Walk Away is a song that listeners who have experienced separation in any form can resonate with, and it can evoke feelings of nostalgia and longing for a reunion.

Under rated song that should be played in acoustic alongside the greats like 'Wake Me Up When September Ends,' '21 Guns,' and 'Good Riddance.'
