Maybe Tomorrow
Chords The Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometmes I just feel these crazy dreams inside
People hiding behind uniforms, scream aloud and shout tonight
Point your fingers and question why
Scared, scared people won't smile, I don't know

(imagination)

A real sound
From the street,
From the towns

Sometimes I watch and wait,
For signs and voices and screams
Screaming now at a funny joke
Can we all be judged between
I know I'm happy, it's too obscene
That's when I see you standing there

(imagination)

A real sound
From the street,
From the towns

Silent footsteps
Whispers aloud
It's too late
The deadbeat underground

Because we saw you
Saw you in this town
yes we saw you
You were wearing the uniforms
You were wearing the uniforms

(imagination)

A real sound
From the street,
From the towns

Reality, or just lies? (maybe tomorrow)
Be good now, and don't do nothing (maybe tomorrow)

Bang, bang, bang, bang, you're dead

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Chords The's song "Maybe Tomorrow" can be interpreted as a reflection on the social and political turmoil of modern society. The singer feels a sense of unease and confusion about the world around him, as he observes people hiding behind uniforms and screaming aloud and shouting. He points out the hypocrisy of those who question and accuse others, while remaining scared and unable to smile.

The "crazy dreams inside" may refer to the singer's own restless thoughts or to the collective imagination of a generation that is searching for meaning and purpose. The real sound that comes from the streets and towns may represent the voices of the marginalized and oppressed, who are often silenced or ignored by those in power. The silent footsteps and whispers may suggest a sense of hidden danger or conspiracy, as if the truth is being suppressed and the people are kept in the dark.

The final lines of the song, "Bang, bang, bang, bang, you're dead," could be seen as a warning or a lament, as if to say that violence and conflict are inevitable if we don't listen to each other and find a way to work together. The song seems to urge the listener to be open-minded and compassionate, to reject the divisions and prejudices that keep us apart, and to seek a better tomorrow.

how cool is that then! The Chords!! Thanks for that great blast from the past. They were my fave band back in the 80's. Listening to them now makes me understand why, THEY ARE JUST FANTASTIC!!! So many bands today try to copy what they mastered back in the 80's, but will never get even close to what they did.
