Pick Me Up
Chout Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Candied lemon kinda day
Hear you callin' out my name
So you know that it's a game

Seven hours
You wont notice a change
Like me loads
Wanna know if I'll stay

Sifting only lemonade
Whisper lonely it a shame
So you told me it again

Seven hours
You wont notice a change
Like me loads

Wanna know another who will make you feel as I do
Some other soul who knows just where you like it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Chout's Pick Me Up convey a sense of longing and a desire for connection. The opening line, "Candied lemon kinda day," sets the tone for the song as a feeling of sweetness and hopefulness. The next line, "Hear you callin' out my name," suggests that the singer is reaching out to someone they hope will respond to them. The line "So you know that it's a game" implies that the relationship could be playful or flirtatious.

The repetition of the line "Seven hours, you won't notice a change" suggests that the singer is waiting for something to happen, but time is slipping away unnoticed. The line "Like me loads, wanna know if I'll stay" reveals the singer's insecurity about their place in the other person's life. They want to know if they are wanted for the long term.

The line "Sifting only lemonade, whisper lonely it's a shame" suggests that the singer is feeling melancholy and alone, but they are trying to find comfort in something sweet. The line "So you told me it again" implies that the other person may have said something reassuring, but the singer is still struggling with doubt.

Overall, the song seems to be about the uncertainty and vulnerability of trying to connect with someone. The sweet imagery and hopeful tone give the sense that the singer still has faith in the possibility of love.

This song deserves more attention.

It would be Headbangers Ball approved

It would depend on whether military intel would've allowed them to be promoted. There were plenty of bands out of Seattle that never got a contract.

Brendan: You're extremely blessed to have a tone of voice that can reach millions. Very similar to Layne Staley's. As much as I love Layne, his gift was wasted. Yes, we have several albums of fantastic music but had he not been hooked on that garbage he could have been so much more. Please please please take care of yourself, stay clean, and be true to yourself. You guys will go far.

Rest of that band: Guitar and bass tones are killer and those drums are hypnotizing! This whole album has been on rotation on my spotify and I can't get enough! Long live Chout!
