V1
Hey pops I ain’t been around
I know, I was just down at momma’s house
And she told me I should swing on by see ya ‘fore I roll outta here
Yeah I, I think I met the one
But I, I don’t wanna jump the gun
We been out a few times and it feels like I’ve known her for years
Chorus
She’s from a small town just like you
She’s got a smile that could light up the room
She’s pretty as a halleluiah
But don’t let it fool ya
Cause she’ll dance when she drinks
And she’ll say what she thinks
She makes me a better man like you did
I miss you and wish you could just meet each other
Cause I bet you would’ve loved her
Dad I bet you would’ve loved her
V2
Hey pops that girl I told ya bout
Yeah we, We’ve been married a couple months now
And we saved you a spot next to momma on that front church pew
I bet you would’ve loved our wedding band
I bet you would’ve slid in and stole a dance
I bet you would’ve cried
I bet you would’ve laughed
I bet you would’ve loved it when she called you dad
Chorus
She’s from a small town just like you
She’s got a smile that could light up the room
She’s pretty as a halleluiah
But don’t let it fool ya
Cause she’ll dance when she drinks
And she’ll say what she thinks
She makes me a better man like you did
I miss you and wish you could just meet each other
Cause I bet you would’ve loved her
Dad I bet you would’ve loved her
Bridge
Hey pops, you know I hate to cry
But I, I just let them rain that night
That I held your grandbaby in my hands for the very first time
Chorus
Cause she’s got brown eyes just like you
Her momma’s glow that could light up the room
She’s pretty as a halleluiah
And that smile that’ll do something to ya
She’ll dance when I sing
And she’s my everything
She makes me a better man like you did
I miss you and wish you could just meet each other
Cause I know you would’ve loved her

Oh yeah
Dad I know you would’ve loved her

Overall Meaning

Chris Bandi's "Would Have Loved Her" is a poignant tribute to a father who is no longer with him. The song is about Bandi talking to his father who has passed away and telling him about his new love. In the first verse, he tells his father that he's met someone special, and in the chorus, he lists off all the things he loves about her. He then asks his father to imagine how they would have gotten along if he was still alive.

In the second verse, he tells his father that he's now married to the girl he told him about in the first verse. He talks about how much his father would have loved their wedding, and how he misses him. In the bridge, he tells his father that he held his grandbaby for the first time, and even though he hates to cry, he got emotional.

The song is a beautiful ode to family and love lost. It is a reminder to appreciate those we love because we never know how long they will be with us. The lyrics are simple yet powerful, and the melody is warm and comforting.
