Should've been, should've been honest, oh
How could you do this?
I didn't understand, wasn't in the plan
I wanted your love (yeah)
It's all up in my head, lately I forget
I only see you at the parties
My number blowin' up
You want me to be there for you
I don't feel no way about it
Bet you wake up alone in the morning
Tried to give you a look, oh yeah
But it wasn't enough, oh yeah
And I know that you want me to want it
Tryna get back where we started
I've given a lot, yeah, yeah
But it wasn't enough, yeah, yeah
Cheetah, cheetah
Should've been us (facts)
But you was just here for the moment
Cheetah, cheetah
Gave you my heart, but you didn't care for it (no)
You're a cheetah
Way that I bounce
I made it a mess, the sleepin' around (oh)
She want my sympathy (oh)
It's not how she used to be (cheetah, cheetah)
Why you always gotta do me like that?
Ooh baby, I don't understand
I gave you all that you wanted (oh ohh)
Even if I can lose myself
Haven't you noticed? (Ohh, ooh)
What it's like to be with you
Tell me you love me (ohh, oh)
But it was just a joke to you (for you, ooh, ooh)
I don't feel no way about it (either way)
Bet you wake up alone in the morning
Tried to give you a look, oh yeah
But it wasn't enough, oh yeah
And I know that you want me to want it (ooh)
Tryna get back where we started
I've given a lot, yeah, yeah
But it wasn't enough, yeah
Cheetah, cheetah
Should've been us (facts)
But you was just here for the moment
Cheetah, cheetah
Gave you my heart but you didn't care for it (no)
You're a cheetah
Way that I bounce
I made it a mess, the sleepin' around (oh)
She want my sympathy (oh)
It's now how she used to be
(Cheetah, cheetah)

In "Cheetah" by Chris Brown, the lyrics depict a relationship that has gone awry. The singer expresses their disappointment and confusion about the actions and intentions of their partner. They mention how they wanted the love of their partner, but lately, they have been feeling disconnected and forgotten. The singer only seems to encounter their partner at parties, in a state of intoxication, which implies that their partner only seems interested when there are no emotional commitments involved. The singer acknowledges that they do not feel strongly about the situation, and they believe that their partner will wake up alone in the morning, regretting their actions.
The chorus of the song, "Cheetah, cheetah; Should've been us, but you were just here for the moment," further emphasizes that their partner was only interested in a temporary fling rather than a genuine, committed relationship. The singer feels betrayed and hurt, as they had given their heart and invested themselves emotionally in the relationship, but their partner did not value or care for it. Despite their disappointment, the singer sees through their partner's actions and declares that they are no longer interested in playing games or being manipulated.
Overall, "Cheetah" portrays the singer's realization that their partner was not sincere or loyal in the relationship. It highlights feelings of deception, betrayal, and disappointment, with the singer expressing a desire for honesty and a deeper connection.
