Don’t Wake Me Up
Chris Brown Lyrics

Dearly beloved
If this love only exists in my dreams
Don't wake me up

Too much light in this window
Don't wake me up
Only coffee, no sugar inside my cup
If I wake and you're here still, give me a kiss
I wasn't finished dreamin' about your lips

Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me
Don't wake me up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me up, yeah
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me

So much life in the city, you won't believe
Been awake for some days now, no time to sleep
If your heart is a pillow, this love's the bed
Tell me what is the music inside my head

Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me
Don't wake me up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me up, yeah
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me

I don't wanna fall, fall, fall, fall asleep, no
I don't wanna fall unless I'm falling for you
I don't wanna fall, fall, fall, fall asleep, no
I don't wanna fall unless I'm falling for you

Don't wake me up, up
Don't wake me up
Don't wake me up, yeah
Don't wake me up, up, up, up, up, up

Don't wake me up

Overall Meaning

In "Don't Wake Me Up", Chris Brown is singing about a love that feels like it only exists in his dreams. He asks his lover not to wake him up from this perfect dream world, as he is afraid that reality will shatter the dream. He sings about the perfect dream world where there is too much light in the window and the only thing in his cup is coffee without sugar, as he wants to continue dreaming about his lover's lips. Brown describes that his heart is like a pillow while his love is like the bed. He doesn't want to fall asleep unless he's falling in love with her.

The lyrics performed by Brown express the desire to hold on to a perfect moment, whether it's a memory or a dream. The singer is aware that the moment will pass, and he doesn't want to lose it. He begs his lover to let him stay in this perfect dream world just a little longer.

Overall, the song's theme is the desire to hold on to fleeting moments that make us feel happy and alive, and how we can try to retain those experiences, even if they are only dreams.

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and went to jail. Now I have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In The Sky” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you 💕

We all have that one song 😭as a memories we never forget

@ryanriaz

Why new songs gets boring quickly and old ones just eases your soul when you listen to it and it never gets old. Love these songs they’re nostalgic

@kennylamere8542

Because it’s always the same lyrics. Only a few artists have albums that last more than a week nowadays
