At thirteen, Brown was discovered by a local production team who visited his father's gas station searching for new talent. Since then, he began his recording career and moved to New York, staying there for two years. Brown's local production team organized an audition before Def Jam Vice President Tina Davis, who currently works as his manager. At the age of 15, Brown was then sent to perform for L.A. Reid and was subsequently signed in 2004 to Jive Records. By early 2005, Brown began work for his debut album, working with the likes of Scott Storch, The Underdogs, Dre, Vidal, Bryan Michael Cox, Bow Wow, and Jermaine Dupri.

His fourth single is the ballad "Say Goodbye," which is also a part of the Step Up Soundtrack. On June 13, 2006, Brown released a DVD entitled, Chris Brown's Journey, which shows footage of him travelling in England and Japan, getting ready for his first visit to the Grammys, behind the scenes of his music videos and bloopers.

To have you sayin' I can't be sixteen
Once I get in you won't let go
(And I) I'll have the girls wishin' they were you
(And I) I know you heard 'bout me
But guess what's goin' down if we leave?
I got friends and you got friends (word, oh)
They hop out, and you hop in (word, oh)

The lyrics of Chris Brown's song "Run It!" featuring Juelz Sant, are about a young man who meets a girl in a club and is attracted to her. He confidently tells her that he knows what girls want and what they like, making it clear that he wants her to stay and party with him all night. He persuades her by telling her that he can show her things that would make her forget about his age. He tells her that he has friends who can hang out with her friends making a group of friends. He also hypes her up, encouraging her to dance, and assures her that he can keep up with her moves.
The chorus of the song is a call and response between Chris Brown and Juelz Santana, asking the girl if her man is on the floor and if he isn't, then letting her know that they want to see if she can "run it." The term "run it" in this song is a reference to dancing and performing well on the dancefloor.
Overall, the lyrics of "Run It!" are about having fun in the club, showing off dance moves, and impressing the opposite sex. The song is upbeat and high energy, reflecting the youthful and carefree spirit present in clubs.
