The opening lines in this song are a prelude to the introduction of Chris Brown as the “young, the new R&B Prince.” This signals a passing of the baton from the old guard to the new guard and sets the stage for a discussion about the young singer’s rise to fame, his hopes for the future and his determination to succeed. The lyrics speak of success and the rewards that come with it, from fast cars and yachts to lavish vacations and romantic getaways. Chris Brown’s anticipation of the future is expressed in the lines:
“I know I'm just a young'un
But girl I'm in a good groove, right zone
I just need a year or two.
Let me stack this paper, imam keep the lights on”
The song’s chorus is a projection of confidence, as the artist boldly proclaims his name and talent for all to hear. He continues to make his case by repeating “I’m a pro and I can go on & on & on & on.” The final lines of the song suggest that Brown is aware of his own appeal and that he recognizes the effect he has on women. He proclaims, “Ma you need to stop playing, you know who you want, you know what you need, and I do too.”
