Over & Over
Chris Clark Lyrics

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
High above the chimney tops,
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Chris Clark's song "Over & Over" are actually based on the classic song "Over the Rainbow" from the movie The Wizard of Oz. The song expresses the desire for a better life, one that is free from worries and filled with happiness. The opening lines "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby," are a reference to this ideal place that the singer dreams of.

The second stanza shifts from the dreamlike state to a more proactive stance, with the line "Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me." This suggests that the singer is committed to making a change and actively seeking a better life. The line "Where troubles melt like lemon drops" is an evocative image of the relief that comes from being free from stress and worry. The final line of the stanza "That's where you'll find me" is a powerful assertion that the singer knows exactly what they want and where they need to be to achieve it.

The final stanza reiterates the themes of the song, with the imagery of blue birds flying over the rainbow. The singer asks why they can't be happy like the birds and find their own paradise beyond the rainbow. The song ends on this open-ended question, leaving the listener with a sense of longing and the hope that someday they too will find their own "somewhere over the rainbow."

Overall, "Over & Over" is a beautiful and poignant tribute to the power of dreams and the human desire for a better life.

I never heard The Miracles version. I like Chris Clark's smoky voice & delivery.

@peterclarke3990

This is by far and, away the best versionof this song. She sings the lyrics so well and her phrasing is amazing. Musically much better than the miracles version and soooo much better to dance to.
