Garneau, a native of Boston, lived with his family in Paris during grade school, and later New Jersey before moving to New York City. Garneau discovered a love of music at a young age while learning to play piano. After high school, Garneau briefly attended Berklee Music School in Boston, but left after completing one term and moved to Brooklyn, NY. There he began writing music and playing live shows at small venues in the East Village and Lower East Side of Manhattan, including CBGB's Gallery and "The Living Room".
Garneau eventually signed with Absolutely Kosher Records, an Emeryville, California-based record label. He was brought to the label by Jamie Stewart and Caralee McElroy of Xiu Xiu. Garneau released his debut album Music for Tourists in October 2006 and on iTunes in January 2007. His second project, an EP titled "C-Sides", was released in December 2007. Garneau's second full-length album, titled "El Radio," was released in July 2009.
Over and Over

You said so
You said it over and over
It's not my fault
You said so
You said it over and over
Now I'm in this thing
I'm stuck over and over
Yeah, I'm in this thing
This fucking thing
It's happening over and over
Then you give me things
That make me sad
You give them over and over
And I can feel the days
But I'd like to say
Remember the days when we used to?
But I don't feel them over and over
It's not my fault
You said so
You said it over and over
It's not my fault
You said so
You, you said it over and over
Now I'm in this thing
This fucking thing
It's happening over and over
Yeah, I'm in this thing
This fucking thing
I'm stuck over and over
And you give me things
That make me sad
You give them over and over
And I can feel the days
But I'd like to say
Remember the days when we used to?
But I don't feel them over and over
We're rockers, anyway
Just skin and bones
Good hair, good clothes
And that's how it goes
We've got sweet little toes
And it's all, all, all, all, all up to me now
There's a lot of work, work, work, work to do
And it's all, all, all, all, all up to me now
Leave me be, be, be, be, be I am through
The song "Over and Over" by Chris Garneau speaking about a relationship that has gone sour, and the singer of the song is stuck in it. The song begins with the repetitive "It's not my fault; You said so; You said it over and over." The person speaking is defending themselves against whatever is being blamed on them. The use of repetition is to emphasize that they have heard the other person’s grievances repeatedly. The singer then explains how they are stuck in this thing or relationship and can't get out of it. They are constantly feeling sad because of the other person's actions. The phrase "I'm stuck over and over" is used as an emphasis on how the situation cannot change.
In the third stanza, the singer talks about the memories of the past when the relationship was good, but they can't feel them anymore because of the current situation. It's possible that the other person is repeating the same mistakes over and over, which makes it hard for the singer to move on. The repetition of "And you give me things that make me sad, you give them over and over" emphasizes the toxicity of the other person's actions.
