When I'm close to you, dear
The stars fill the sky
So in love with you am I
Even without you
My arms fold about you
You know, darling, why
In love with the night mysterious
The night when you first were there
In love with my joy delirious
When I knew that you could care
So taunt me and hurt me
Deceive me, desert me
I'm yours 'til I die
So in love
So in love
So in love with you, my love, am I
The lyrics of Chris McNulty's "So In Love" express the intense emotional connection and devotion that the singer feels towards her lover. The very first line of the song, "Strange dear, but true, dear" sets the tone for the lyrics that follow - the singer acknowledges that what she's feeling might be unusual, but it's still true. The next line, "When I'm close to you, dear, the stars fill the sky" suggests that being around the person she loves fills her with a sense of wonder and magic, as if the stars themselves are shining brighter.
The chorus of the song, "So in love with you am I" repeats the central message of the lyrics, which is the depth of the singer's love for her partner. The second verse talks about how the singer is in love not just with the person themselves, but with the special moments they've shared together - the mysterious night when they first met, and the joy she felt when she knew that her partner cared for her too.
The last lines of the song, "So taunt me and hurt me, deceive me, desert me, I'm yours 'til I die" show the singer's willingness to endure any pain or hardship for the sake of her love. Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of deep devotion, passion, and surrender to the power of love.
