God Is Love
Chris Renzema Lyrics

How great this love
Oh, it's moving all my mountains
It's perfect love
It's casting out my fear
How great this love
Oh, it welcomes me like family
And anywhere I go
It meets me there

'Cause He is good
And He is God
What I earned
It's not what I got
And He is just
Yet also kind
What I deserve
It's not what I find
What more could I say about Him?
My God is love

How great this love
Oh, it's faithful through my failures
It's trusting love
It's with me 'til the end
How great this love
Oh, it's closer than a brother
This is love
He died so I could live

And He is good
And He is God
What I earned
It's not what I got
And He is just
Yet also kind
What I deserve
It's not what I find
What more could I say about Him?
My God is love

And I know my God is love
I know my God is love
And this is enough to know my God is love
I know my God is love
I know my God is love
And this is enough to know my God is love
I know my God is love
I know my God is love
This is enough to know my God is love
I know my God is love
I know my God is love
This is enough to know my God is love

'Cause He is good
And He is God
What I earned
It's not what I got
And He is just
Yet also kind
What I deserve
It's not what I find
What more could I say about Him?
My God is love
What more could I say about Him?
My God is love

What more could I say about Him?
My God is love

Overall Meaning

Chris Renzema's song God Is Love is a powerful expression of the overwhelming and all-encompassing love of God. The opening lines speak of the immensity of this love, calling it "great" and stating that it moves mountains and casts out fear. The love of God is perfect and all-encompassing, welcoming us like family no matter where we are. The chorus declares that God is good and just, and that we cannot earn or deserve the love that He freely offers us. This love is faithful even in the midst of our failures, and is with us until the end. Ultimately, the message of this song is that we can know that God is love, and that this knowledge alone is enough.

One interesting fact about God Is Love is that it was written during a particularly difficult time in Chris Renzema's life. He was grappling with intense feelings of doubt and questioning, and the song was born out of a desire to cling to the love of God in the midst of darkness. Another interesting fact is that the song features backing vocals from a gospel choir, which adds to the sense of joyful celebration that permeates the song. Additionally, the video for the song was filmed in one continuous take, which required many rehearsals and careful coordination.

Overall, God Is Love is a deeply moving and powerful expression of the love of God. Its message of hope and assurance is one that many people will find comfort in, especially during difficult or uncertain times.

@blessedone843

I love this song myself whenever it comes on while I'm driving to work... I just start crying a waterfall, thinking of God's goodness even when I don't deserve it just knowing that he loves me is enough. Amen!!

@Figgboii

Amen, to that statement, Brother.

I really can't get over Christian music today. Growing up, Christian music was always so old-fashioned and out of touch. Today's Christian music is everything that pop music isn't. It is artful, original, soulful, etc. Even if you aren't a Christian, you have to find this more pleasant sounding than today's mish-mash of terrible sounds on pop radio.
