Rice was born in Washington DC, and has been a resident of Franklin and Nashville TN since his early twenties.
From his official website: "In 1996 he signed with a record label (Rocketown Records) as their first artist. After four plus albums and a few handfuls of Christian radio hit singles, he moved to an indie label (Eb+Flo) started by his producer and long time friend Monroe Jones. This new label relationship helped him expand his musical reach into more mainstream pop radio, especially with his light-hearted love songs 'When Did You Fall (In Love With Me)' and 'Lemonade,' still heard in Home Depots, Toys-R-Uses, restaurant bathrooms, airports and shopping malls around the country."
In June 2022, Tates Creek Presbyterian Church released a report on allegations of past sexual misconduct by Rice after commencing an investigation in October 2020.
Lemonade

For happy ever after
'Cause nobody knows what's coming
So why not take a chance on loving?
Come on, pour the glass and tempt me
Either half-full or half-empty
'Cause if it all comes down to flavor
The glass is tipping in my favor
Life gave me lemonade, and I can't imagine why
Born on a sunny day, beneath a tangerine sky
I live life without pretending
I'm a sucker for happy endings
Thanks for the lemonade
Thanks for the lemonade
Now, take your time to answer me
For the beauty of romancing
Is to calm your trembling hand with mine
While begging love to fill your eyes
I can hardly breathe while waiting
To find out what your heart is saying
And as we're swirling in this flavor
The world is tilting in our favor
Life gave me lemonade, and I can't imagine why
Born on a sunny day, beneath a tangerine sky
I live life without pretending
I'm a sucker for happy endings
Thanks for the lemonade
Thanks for the lemonade
I've got it made
Rest in the shade
And hold my love
While God above
Stirs with a spoon
We share the moon
Smile at the bees
More sugar, please
He really loves us after all
We're gonna need another straw
We're gonna need another straw
Life gave me lemonade, and I can't imagine why
Born on a sunny day, beneath a tangerine sky
I live life without pretending
I'm a sucker for happy endings
Thanks for the lemonade
Thanks for the lemonade
In the song "Lemonade" by Chris Rice, the lyrics encourage taking chances in love because nobody knows what the future holds. Rice's suggestion is to "pour the glass and tempt (him)", whether it is half-full or half-empty. The idea being, that if all things in life come down to flavor, then the glass is tipping in his favor. The song is a tribute to life itself, thanking it for the good and the bad, symbolized by lemonade, either sweet or sour.
He continues with a romantic overture when he invites his partner to take time to answer as they enjoy the beauty of the moment. Rice explains that the beauty of romance is calming the trembling hand with his while begging the other person to fill their eyes with love. The romantic anticipation becomes palpable, and as they "swirl in this flavor", it feels like the world is tilting in their favor. Thus, the song's message is to live life to its fullest potential without pretending and being a "sucker for happy endings."

This song was in my battling and healing days, 3 years ago. Now I'm listening to this song, and 'Thanks for the lemonade', now i'm grown as a better version of myself :) This song just encourages us to live a life on the full mode while we're still alive, do what we can in our best way. That's how we called a life worth to live. Cause we're getting older every single day after all :)
