Chris Tomlin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This world is not what it was meant to be
All this pain, all this suffering
There's a better place waiting for me
In Heaven

Every tear will be wiped away
Every sorrow and sin erased
We'll dance on seas of amazing grace
In Heaven
In Heaven

I'm goin' home
Where the streets are golden
Every chain is broken
Oh I wanna go
Oh I wanna go
Home
Where every fear is gone
I'm in your open arms
Where I belong
Home

Lay down my burdens, I lay down my past
I run to Jesus, no turning back
Thank God Almighty, I'll be free at last
In Heaven
In Heaven

I'm goin' home
Where the streets are golden
Every chain is broken
Oh I wanna go
Oh I wanna go
Home
Where every fear is gone
I'm in your open arms
Where I belong

Blinded eyes
Will finally see
The dead will rise
On the shores of eternity
The trump will sound
The angels will sing
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I am
Goin' home
Where the streets are golden
Every chain is broken
Oh I wanna go
Oh I wanna go
Home
Where every fear is gone
I'm in your open arms
Where I belong
Where I belong

I'm goin' home
I'm goin' home

I'm on my way home
I'm goin' home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Chris Tomlin's song "Home" are an expression of the Christian belief that the world as we know it is not perfect, and there is a better place waiting for us in heaven. It talks about the pain and suffering that we experience in this world and also highlights the hope of a future without fear, sorrow or sin.

The song paints an image of a world where all that is broken will be made new – "every tear will be wiped away, every sorrow and sin erased." The imagery of dancing on seas of amazing grace is an expression of the joy that is expected when we finally get to heaven. It also speaks of a longing to be in a place that is different from the current situation, a place where every fear is gone, and we are embraced in love.

The song speaks of laying down burdens and recognizing that we don't have to carry our pasts. We can run to Jesus, and our chains can be broken, and we can be free. The idea of trump sounding and the angels singing Hallelujah highlights the Christian belief that there will be a time of reckoning when Christ returns, and the dead will rise.

In conclusion, "Home" is a song about hope for the future, where Christians will ultimately reside one day. The lyrics are encouraging for those who have lost loved ones, and it reminds them that their spirits are living in a better place where they will never suffer again.

I lost my father when I was 20 years old
But everytime holy spirit says me that to know jesus and accept him as our saviour and Christ is a peace and most comfortable thing.
Now death doesn't matter
We all are living in Christ .
Jesus is preparing home in heaven for us.
