I Will Rise
Chris Tomlin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
"I Will Rise" is a powerful song that speaks of a deep and abiding faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The song emphasizes the hope that Christians have in the face of death and despair. The first verse speaks of a peace that comes from knowing Christ, even when the body and emotions are failing. This is a reference to the idea that the soul is more important than the physical body and that Christ is our anchor, our source of strength and comfort, in times of trouble.
The second verse moves into the theme of the resurrection of Jesus and the victory that this represents over death and evil. When Christ rose from the dead, He overcame the power of death and sin, and this is the foundation of the Christian faith. The idea of rising from the dead is central to the song, and it is a powerful symbol of hope and renewal. The line "no more sorrow, no more pain" refers to the eternal life that believers will have with Christ in heaven, free from the struggles of this world.
The chorus of the song expresses the believer's longing for the day when Christ will return and gather His people. The image of rising on eagles' wings is a poetic and beautiful way of expressing the idea that we will be caught up to heaven and be with Christ forever. The line "before my God fall on my knees" expresses the humility and awe that believers will feel when they stand before the throne of God.
Overall, "I Will Rise" is a song of hope and comfort for believers. It reminds us that no matter what struggles we face in this life, we have the promise of eternal life with Christ. It is a message that has resonated with many people and has become a beloved song in the Christian community.

SOLDIER OF JESUS CHRIST
“For a mere moment I have forsaken you,
But with great mercies I will gather you.
With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;
But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,”
Says the Lord, your Redeemer.
“For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;
For as I have sworn
That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,
So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
“O you afflicted one,
Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,
And lay your foundations with sapphires.
I will make your pinnacles of rubies,
Your gates of crystal,
And all your walls of precious stones.
All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
And great shall be the peace of your children.
In righteousness you shall be established;
You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
And from terror, for it shall not come near you.
Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.
“Behold, I have created the blacksmith
Who blows the coals in the fire,
Who brings forth an instrument for his work;
And I have created the spoiler to destroy.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord."

That’s good news. I have a question regarding when you were a Muslim. What made you change your views? I often have hard times trying to explain to Muslims about Christ and him being the lord and savior of all of gods children.

@IShowSkillz Mary is a human. What matters is to obey and follow God and Jesus, and honor Him in how you live with help from His Holy Spirit. God alone is God!

I can't believe how this song comes to me now at this time of my life. I do love HIM so . I have fallen so many times and HE still watches over me and guides me through all my worries and turmoil. I rise every time. I can't and won't ever deny HIS power in my life. I am just so sorry I am not strong all the time. He has never forsaken me. I will forever be HIS. Thank you JESUS. I will rise ! Thank you Chris for your inspiration.

Proverbs 24:16 says "FOR THOUGH A RIGHTEOUS MAN MAY FALL SEVEN TIMES, HE STILL GETS UP." Standing up the eighth time is symbolic in that Biblically the number 8 means a new beginning. God bless you...keep standing.

@D. Martinez- Rodriguez It's so funny that this is something I've been struggling with recently. I fall and feel like there's no point in trying again because I know I'll only fall again. Twice this week I've seen that verse and I know it's because I was supposed to.
