Trousdale was born in New Port Richey, Florida to a Greek American father and an Irish American mother.[1] He has performed in various Broadway shows including The Sound of Music and Les Miserables. He was also a member of the Broadway Kids (whose alumni include Christy Carlson Romano, Lacey Chabert and Greg Raposo), with whom he recorded several CDs.
In 1999, he was chosen to be one of the five members of the teen boy band Dream Street (formerly known as 'Boy Wonder' -minus Matt, Frank, and Jesse-), created by Brian Lukow and Louie Baldonieri alongside Gregory Raposo, Matthew Ballinger, Frank Galasso, and Jesse McCartney. The group's debut album, released on Edel Records in July 2001, was #1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums Chart in its first week of release and has gone on to sell a million copies nationwide.
In 2002, the band broke up over a legal dispute between the group members and their parents. Trousdale pursued a solo career with the managers of Dream Street; he was soon signed to Columbia Records. However, the arrangement did not last long as Columbia wanted Trousdale to be a part of a new Dream Street boyband. That was something neither Trousdale nor his managers wanted, so he was dropped by Columbia Records in 2005. The Biggest Fan, co-starring Trousdale and Kaila Amariah, was released on home video and DVD in May 2005 (featuring original remastered Dream Street track "You're Taking Me Over" and remade tracks "I Miss You," "I Say Yeah," "This Time," and "Jennifer Goodbye" was released in 2002).
Trousdale has been a big hit on Radio Disney via his duet hits with the girl group Play (a rendition of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me") and solo artist Nikki Cleary (remake of the Grease track "You're the One that I Want"). However, shortly after his solo career started to take off, Trousdale put his career on hold in 2006 and moved back to Michigan to take care of his ailing mother.
In 2009, Trousdale did an interview where he stated that an album was expected to drop the same year; however, it was never released.
In 2012, Trousdale auditioned for The Voice
On June 30, 2014, Trousdale announced via Twitter that he had joined the Spectra Music Group to work on his solo album.
In 2015, Trousdale taught dance classes at Artworks Studio in Michigan.
On February 2019, Trousdale announced via his social media accounts – repeated in his June 2019 interview on Famous Birthdays – that he planned to release an EP in August or September; however, no new EP nor album had been released by his death in June 2020.

They're multiplying.
And I'm losing self-control.
'Cause the power your supplying,
Its electrifying.
You better shape up,
'Cause you're the only one,
You better shape up,
You better understand,
To my heart I must be true.
(Nothing left, nothing left for me to do)
You're the one that I want.
(You are the one I want)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want.
(You are the one I want want)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want
(You are the one I want want)
Oh, oh, oh.
The one I need.
Oh, yes indeed.
Oh, yeah yeah yeah
If you're filled with affection,
You're to shy to convey,
Betta take my direction.
(feel your way)
(I'll feel my way)
You better shape up,
'Cause you're the only one,
(The only one)
That I want here by my side.
I'd better shape up,
If I'm gonna show,
That my faith is justified.
Are you sure?
Yes, I'm sure down deep inside.
You're the one that I want.
(You are the one I want)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want.
(You are the one I want want)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want
(You are the one I want want)
Oh, oh, oh.
The one I need.
Oh, yes indeed.
I've got chills they're multiplying.
(You're the one I want)
'Cause the power you're supplying.
(You're the one, baby)
If you're filled with affection ,
(You're the one I want)
Betta take my direction.
(You're the one, baby)
You're the one that I want.
(Are you the one for me?)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want.
(You are the one I want want)
Oh, oh, oh. Honey.
The one that I want
(You are the one I want want),
Oh, oh, oh.
The one I need.
(The one I need)
Oh, yes indeed.
(Oh, yes indeed.)
The lyrics of Chris Trousdale's song You're the One That I Want express a passionate attraction for someone. The singer is overwhelmed by the feelings and sensations that this person awakens in them. They have chills that are multiplying, and they're losing their self-control because the person's power is electrifying. In the first verse, the singer is inviting the person to step up and become what they're looking for, because they're the only one that the singer wants, and their heart is set on them. The singer insists on the fact that the person should understand that they must be true to their heart if they want to be with the singer.
In the second verse, the singer addresses someone who is shy but filled with affection. The singer tells them to follow their direction and feel their way, suggesting that there's a mutual attraction between the two. The song ends on a high note with the singer reiterating their passionate appeal to the person. They're asking them if they're sure that they're the one, and the person answers with a confident "yes."
Overall, the lyrics of You're the One That I Want are straightforward and express the singer's passion and longing for someone they believe is "the one." The song became famous in the '70s through the movie "Grease," where it was performed by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.
