I'm not a Draymond fan, but he is 100% correct. If his mind-set was different, the Warriors wouldn't work. Kills me to say it but he's the heart of the team. When he was suspended for making dirty plays and playing like a complete fucking idiot the Cavs took the momentum and got the Ring. He'd start on Most teams though, Rodman, and Ben Wallace were starters and they weren't known for being great scorers.

Rodman didnt need to score either. His role was play D, rebound and get in his opponents head. You don't build complete teams where everyone is scoring 20+ per game. You build teams with players who can play their role and do things the stat sheet doesn't show like set picks.

Dennis made it into the top 75 w/o scoring many points. And the big 3 Brooklyn had w KD, Kyrie and Harden didn’t work out although they had arguably the 3 best scorers in the league at that moment. That proves you need players like Draymond and Dennis in order to win it all.

@Kelvin Ward he’s an elite defender. That’s inarguable. They don’t have great individual defenders like Boston does they play great TEAM defense. The reason they can do that with mediocre defenders like pool and Steph on the court is because draymond is roaming cleaning up everyone’s mess, calling out coverages, switches, etc… without him their defense is trash. Which is why they lose a lot of games when he’s out. You are right that he can’t score at this point in his career AT ALL.. but hes still essential to the offense being that they run a guard screen & roll offense & he can screen and roll often given a free lane because you can’t leave their shooters he will find them. if you have shooting he’s perfect for your team. Especially back in 2015 when they won the title he was a much better shooter from 3.

I can understand the argument that Draymond wouldn't be an All Star in another team, I'm not saying I agree; but it can be argued. But to say he wouldn't start on some other teams is just a laughable comment. It's one of those comment where the only reason it's said is to sound different and end up just sounding stupid instead. We've all seen in 2016 Finals that Draymond can score when needed; but that's not what his role is in Golden State. Draymond can shoot, pass, grab rebounds and most importantly, he is a terrific defender. There is no team in the NBA that he wouldn't have an important role in the first team. That important role doesn't always have to be scoring 25 points a game.

No he wouldn’t. Who would he guard in the 90s. He’s not big enough to guard Shaq, Ewing, Olajuwon, Mourning, David Robinson or Karl Malone. He’s definitely not stopping a young KG or Duncan. He’s not athletic enough to guard Pippen, a prime Grant Hill or Penny Hardaway. Draymond has benefited from playing in the “positionless” era of the NBA. In the 90s he would be considered a “tweener”

Draymond probably really wouldnt start on some teams , maybe he didn't mean that as an insult and more of an observation on how well he fits in the warriors system. Draymond is actually the leader on that team , telling people where to go on offense and defense , calling switches etc. That doesn't show up on the stat sheet. I don't know the point of C-Webb, but to me Dray is probably one of the greatest ROLE player ever. He compliments Curry and Klay with those passes and hard screens. He can do it to on other shooters if he is on another team.
The only team I think Dray would not start if it is an All-Star team or Team USA.

‘Wouldn’t start’ may be an exaggeration but the premise of what C Webb is saying is correct. I’d say Draymonds equivalent is like Anthony Mason: an impt piece to have but ‘only’ one all star team and started only sometimes in his career. Steph and Klay off those screens and the way teams have to guard them is what makes draymond have open lanes and open shots. Im not even a warrior fan, infact I hate there guts bc there too great! I will say Draymond is the most valuable player on there team because he allows curry and klay to do there thing on the offensive end while draymond cleans up the paint. Thing about what happened when kyrie had no draymond in the paint it was lights out there defense falls apart. Shooting is all great but without a defensive anchor in the middle they wouldn't be as dominant as they are. He is similar to al horford or rondo in that his numbers will never jump out at you but watching his impact on the game is all star level.. After all it is a team sport you fit into a team concept you deserve to be an all star

Sorry Dray I think Ben Wallace and Jason Kidd created that lane of all stars not scoring double digits in like half of the regular season games averaging anywhere from 9ppg-10ppg

Find me a player like Draymomd that can guard AD, switch the next game and guard Westbrook, shoot a 3, read the game and be that vocal leader. He's a starter in my team. Don't lie now he starter in any team.
