Over The Hill
Chris and Rich Robinson Lyrics

Nothin' in my favor, got the wind in my face
I'm goin' home, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Over the hill, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Can't get enough of sweet cocaine, get enough of Mary Jane
Goin' back to where I come from, I'm gonna roll it back home again
Over the hill, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
I've been worried about my babies, I've been worried about my wife
Just one place for a man to be when he's worried about his life
I'm goin' home, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Well, over the hill, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Well, I'm goin' away to leave you, gonna leave you in disgrace
Got nothin' in my favor, got the rain in my face
I'm goin' home, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Well, over the hill, hey, hey, hey, over the hill
Well, over the hill, hey, hey, over the hill
The Chris and Rich Robinson's song "Over the Hill" is a song about leaving and going back home, but leaving someone in disgrace. The first two lines of the song create a feeling of disappointment and frustration - "I'm goin' away to leave you, I'm gonna to leave you in disgrace. Nothin' in my favor, got the wind in my face". This person is leaving someone behind, and they feel that they don't have any advantages. They have the wind in their face, which suggests that things are going against them.
Moving on to the chorus, which is quite repetitive and straightforward - "over the hill, hey, hey, hey, over the hill". This phrase is constantly repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of going back home, and leaving everything behind. In the second verse, the person acknowledges their vices - "Can't get enough of sweet cocaine, get enough of Mary Jane. Goin' back to where I come from, I'm gonna roll it back home again". They admit to being addicted to cocaine and marijuana, but they still want to go back to where they are from.
The third verse reveals that this person is worried about their family - "I've been worried about my babies, I've been worried about my wife. Just one place for a man to be when he's worried about his life". They feel like they need to be back home to take care of their family, and they believe there is only one place for them in the world. The last verse repeats the first verse, with different wording, but the same idea - "Well, I'm goin' away to leave you, gonna leave you in disgrace. Got nothin' in my favor, got the rain in my face".
Overall, "Over the Hill" is a song about leaving but wanting to go back home. It's a song about mistakes, addiction, and family responsibilities. The chorus is quite repetitive, and it emphasizes the importance of going back home, no matter what.
