You've got it figured out
I'm only human
I'm only human after all
Answers were easier then
I'd little chance of being wrong
These days are different and
I'm only human after all
We don't have to see eye to eye
You will always be a friend of mine
So go where you must go
Be who you need to be
I'll meet you on the road
Tell me what you see
Butterfly, my butterfly
I would be lying to
Pretend I want to lose
Having you with me
I want you with me, yes I do
But if I know anything it's
There's always beauty yet to come
So I'll let you go since
I know you're coming back, my love
And I'll be waiting with bated breath
To hear you laughing close again
So go where you must go
Be who you need to be
I'll meet you on the road
Tell me what you see
Butterfly, my butterfly
Oh, now the time has come and I am not afraid
To see your wings unfold, against the brightness of the sun
And you will soar, you will soar
So be who you need to be
I'll meet you on the road
You can tell me what you see
So go where you must go
Be who you need to be
Show me what you make
Of all of your good dreams
Butterfly, my butterfly
My butterfly
The song "Butterfly" by Christa Wells invokes imagery of transformation and blossoming. The lyrics speak to the natural evolution of relationships and the growth that can come with letting go. The vocals are gentle and steady, like a friend comforting another during a difficult time. The singer acknowledges that they are fallible and capable of making mistakes, and that the other person may need to explore new paths and identities. However, the singer makes it clear they will always be there to offer support and that they have faith in the person's future.
The metaphor of the butterfly is woven throughout the song, alluding to the process of metamorphosis and the resulting flight towards new horizons. The chorus urges the butterfly to go wherever it needs to go and to be true to itself. Meanwhile, the singer promises to be waiting for the butterfly's return, eager to hear about its experiences as it spreads its wings and takes flight. "Butterfly" is a poignant ode to the beauty and complexity of relationships and the ways in which people change and grow over time.

After listening to velveteen recently, I understand this chorus so much more. Quite moved.
