When The Light Dies Out
Christel Alsos Lyrics

Dying in your arms
Just to keep you
Could we belong
In one another's arms
And see this through
Is this not worth
This heart that bleeds
Oh how I miss you
When the light dies out
Will we see nothing
As we slip away
from each other
Is it just for now
This sinking feeling of
Losing what we have
Is this not worth
This heart that bleeds
on my sleeve
Oh how I miss you
Is this not worth
Is this not worth
Is this not worth
This heart that bleeds
on my sleeve
Oh how I miss you
The lyrics of Christel Alsos's song "When the Light Dies Out" talk about the pain of being in a relationship that is not destined to last. The singer starts by saying that it felt wrong to die in her lover's arms just for the sake of being together. She wonders if they could belong in each other's arms and make it work. The chorus talks about the inevitability of their eventual separation and how they will see nothing when the light dies out. The singer questions whether their current pain and loss is worth enduring for something that may not last forever.
The second verse repeats the questions asked earlier but with more emotion. The singer seems to be in despair as she questions if their relationship is worth the heartbreak that they are currently experiencing. The song concludes with the repetition of the question- "Is this not worth this heart that bleeds on my sleeve? Oh, how I miss you."
The song is a melancholic yet beautiful ballad that captures the pain of fleeting love. It talks about the reality of relationships that do not last and how we should question whether the pain is worth going through in the first place. It is a timeless theme that many people can relate to, making it a classic in the genre.

It felt so wrong
I regret being in your arms, as it made dying much harder
Dying in your arms
Passing away while held closely by you
Just to keep you
The only reason I chose to die in your arms was to make you happy
Could we belong
Is it possible for us to be together and happy?
In one another's arms
Holding each other tightly and comfortably
And see this through
To commit to our relationship and love each other through any challenges
Is this not worth
Isn't this precious enough or aren't we important enough?
This heart that bleeds on my sleeve
The intense emotions I feel are evident for everyone to see
Oh how I miss you
I long to be with you again
When the light dies out
As our lives come to an end
Will we see nothing
Will we not have anything to look forward to or anything to offer each other?
As we slip away from each other
As our connection dissipates and we drift apart
Is it just for now
Is this temporary or fleeting?
This sinking feeling of losing what we have
The heavy sensation of losing the importance of our relationship
Is this not worth
Isn't our relationship valuable enough?
This heart that bleeds on my sleeve
The intense emotions I feel are evident for everyone to see
Oh how I miss you
I long to be with you again
