Letissier has used numerous personal and stage names, and remarked that he "just ha many names for all the layers". He began his career as Christine and the Queens. For his second studio album, he shortened it to Chris, which was accompanied by a shift to a persona described as "a woman playing with masculine tropes". In October 2021, he was using the name Rahim. This sparked a debate around cultural appropriation due to the name's Arabic origin. He eventually began using a succession of different names such as Sam le pompier (the French title of Fireman Sam) and a full stop before settling on Redcar, sometimes shortened as Red. In August 2022, he updated his pronouns to he/him across social media platforms. In 2023, with the release of fourth album Paranoïa, Angels, True Love, he seemed to have reverted to simply Chris. However, he still occasionally uses his birth name, about which he said: "Héloïse Letissier is my parents' provenance and I love my parents. I sometimes use Héloïse to reconnect me to my childhood, but my inner child name is Manamané."

Ils sourient rouge et me parlent gris
On compte à demi-demi
Pile sur un des bas côtés
Comme des origamis
Le bras tendu pareil cassé
Tout n'est qu'épis et éclis
Ces enfants bizarres
Crachés dehors comme par hasard
Cachant l'effort dans le griffoir
Une creepy song en étendard
Qui fait
"J'fais tout mon make up
Au mercurochrome
Contre les pop-ups
qui m'assurent le trône
J'fais tout mon make up
Au mercurochrome
Contre les pop-ups
qui m'assurent le trône"
Je ne tiens pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Je ne tiens pas debout
Le ciel coule sur
Ça ne tient pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Ça ne tient pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Ça ne tient pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Ça ne tient pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Ça ne tient pas debout
Le ciel coule sur mes mains
Je ne tiens pas debout
Sous mes pieds le ciel revient
The lyrics to "Christine" convey a sense of instability and disconnection from reality. The singer starts books from the end and holds her head high for no reason. She cries but blames it on the wind, and her absences are due to emotion. The imagery of the sky running down her hands and the feeling of not standing and the ground being unstable creates a sense of confusion and separation from the world around her.
The song also touches upon themes of masking one's true feelings and pretending to understand when one is really lost. The type who is crying on the outside is contrasted with the powder of gold on the singer's face, which could be interpreted as a symbol of her hiding her emotions behind a façade of wealth or beauty. The children who are "spit out" as if by chance and weirdly holding onto an extendable flag also add to the surreal and disjointed tone of the song.
Overall, "Christine" is a song that captures the feeling of being out of touch with oneself and the world, but also touches upon the ways in which people mask their true emotions and connect with the world around them.

"J'fais tout mon make up

I start the books by the end
and i have the chin high for nothing
my eye which cries its because of the wind
my absences is a feeling
i cant stand
the sky flows on my hands
i cant stand
the sky flows on....
it doesnt stand
the sky flows on my hands
it doesnt stand
under my feet , the sky comes back
they smile red and speak to me grey
i pretend to get it all
there is someone crying outthere
on my face of golden powder
refrain
we and the man we got out
Worse than a sweaty include a half-half
Pile on one of the low ratings as origami
Outstretched arm seems breaks everything is qu'epis and Eclis
Those weird kids
Spit out by chance
Hiding effort in the scratching
And that creepy song listening which does
i do all my make-up
in mercurochrome
Against pop-ups
who ensure me the throne
refrain
