Christophe spent most of his life in Deuil-la-Barre (Val-d'Oise), where his parents run a driving school. As a child, he learned figure skating and to play the piano. Later he learned to sing as part of a gospel choir "Young Voices". He also was composing songs at the age of fourteen.
Before deciding to study to become an economics and management professor, he continued to practice music and in 2004 he appeared in a Richard Anconina film, Alive, where he played the role of Henri, a young man with a golden voice who is, nevertheless, not considered suitable for the lead role in a musical. Since his film career did not continue after this, he returned to university, where he studied communication while working a number of part-time jobs, such as babysitting and helping in a theater.
Pushed by his family and friends, he decided to try out for the 2006 edition of Nouvelle Star. With an initial audition performance of Strong Enough by Des'ree, he surprised the judges, who did not expect such a quality voice from an admittedly ungainly-looking man. Nicknamed "La Tortue" (The Turtle) by Nouvelle Star judge Marianne James, he proved to be a popular contestant, and on June 8th, was crowned the fourth Nouvelle Star.
He has stated that he would like to record a duet on his debut album with second-place finalist Dominique Michalon.[citation needed]
He joined artists such as Tears for Fears, Lara Fabian, and Murray Head on the Night of the Proms tour 2007.
His debut album "Inventaire" was released on April 16th, 2007, while the first single, "Elu Produit De L'annee" premiered in March. the album "Inventaire" debuted at #1 on the french charts and has already sold more than 363 000 (double platinum)

Viens
Christophe Willem Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Avant que la nuit ne meurt
Viens maintenant
Avant que ne passe l'heure
Avant que le jour et son retour
Nous trahissent
Avant que le cours
De nos sages vies nous suffise
Viens, laisse enfin
Le moment guider nos lèvres
Rien qu'un instant
Délie nos âmes, nos fièvres
Même si je ne suis pas
Le prince de tes rêves
La nuit nous maquille
En sa mystérieuse trêve
Viens, le désir
Est un trésor, une chance
Viens, l'éconduire
Est une faute, une offense
On ne vit pas de renoncements
En sacrifices
Dans nos beaux souvenirs
Aussi des interdits s'immiscent
Viens, des vérités
Naissent aussi des mensonges
Viens, avant que le temps
Des regrets nous ronge
Je n'ai qu'un sourire
Et quelques mots pour te convaincre
Le soleil arrive
Et la raison saura nous vaincre
Viens vite avant
Que ne se rompe le charme
Viens, avant que l'aube
Arrive et nous désarme
Je ne suis ni prince
Ni Apollon, ni chimère
Mais je suis ici
Maintenant, si proche et sincère
The first verse of Christophe Willem's song Viens invites someone to come close before the night dies and time passes. The singer seems to suggest that they should seize the opportunity to be together before the day and its inevitability "betrays" them, before the mundane routines of life take over. The second verse is an invitation to let their desires guide them, to let go and indulge in whatever the moment holds, even if the singer is not the ideal partner in the listener's dreams. The night is presented as a kind of mask or veil that allows them to forget about the restrictions and rules of society, to explore their passion and intimacy without shame or judgement. The last verse is a plea to seize the moment before they regret it, before the illusions are shattered by the light of day. The singer acknowledges that they are not perfect or ideal, but promises to be sincere and present in the moment.
The song's lyrics are ambiguous in terms of the relationship between the singer and the listener. It could be interpreted as a seduction or as a plea for someone to stay and not leave. The use of the night as a metaphor for a temporary escape from social norms and personal inhibitions is a common trope in romantic music. The song's melody is slow and intimate, with a soft piano accompaniment that supports the emotional intensity of the lyrics. Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of human connection and the fear of losing something that feels precious and rare.
