Cataratas de Sueño
Chucho Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

In the song Cataratas de Sueño by Chucho, the lyrics speak about a desire to escape reality, to be taken away so far that the singer cannot see anything, not even the clock. The cascades of sleep that are mentioned represent a desire to slip away from the world and its distractions. The singer desires to be lost in the space between wakefulness and sleep, where time does not seem to exist. The personification of air serves as a metaphor for the singer's desire to let go of their struggles and be free.

The second verse appears to reference the singer's past and present struggles. The carretera, or road, that killed serves as a reminder of death and potential turmoil that can occur at any time. The singer's son and van for selling fruit or music highlights the responsibility and hardships of life, but also alludes to things that bring joy and connection. The desire for blindness could be linked to not wanting to see the harshness of life, or the desire to be free from pain and responsibility.
