Nadine
Chuck Berry Lyrics

As I got on a city bus and found a vacant seat,
I thought I saw my future bride walking up the street,
I shouted to the driver hey conductor, you must slow down
I think I see her please let me off this bus

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine
Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I see you
Darling you got something else to do

I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back
And started walkin' toward a coffee colored Cadillac
I was pushin' through the crowd to get to where she's at
And I was campaign shouting like a southern diplomat

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine
Honey, where are you?
Seems like every time I catch up with you
You are up to something new

Downtown searching for 'er, looking all around
Saw her getting in a yellow cab heading up town
I caught a loaded taxi, paid up everybody's tab
Flipped a twenty dollar bill, told him 'catch that yellow cab

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine
Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch up with you
You are up to something new

She move around like a wave of summer breeze,
Go, driver, go go, catch 'er for me please
Moving through the traffic like a mounted cavalier
Leaning out the taxi window trying to make her hear

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine
Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I see you
Darling are up to something new

@Thomas Foss
Then if you're 65, how is it that you remained so stupid?
As you get older, you're supposed to gain knowledge and wisdom. You've gained neither.
I've studied this topic longer than you've been alive.
Elvis's soul depth and diversity destroys chuck.
And I love chuck.
But elvis is on a whole different level of diversity and soul.
But, at the end of the day?
Who really gives a shit about a debate on the internet?

Brad rawsner

You are 100% correct.
These idiots who call chuck the king.
Or big mama the king.
Or little richard the king.
Or any of them.
Elvis Presley was the most diverse and soulful artist in history.
His critically acclaimed studio recordings are second to none.
The sheer diversity and soul of elvis was on an entirely different level.
Anyone who doesn't understand that?
Low low low IQ

When I was a 12 year old kid, Berry was always on the AM top tunes...he produced so many songs that even little fans like me were curious how he could come up with such neat songs one after the other. I was lucky to live at a time when black music was being integrated into mainstream even tho' the conservatives were aghast and trying to sensor it.... Dick Clark was a real important man in this regard.

This song came out in my senior year of HS. Everyone I knew quoted the lyrics to me since my name was Nadine, a very obscure name. Thanks Chuck, you immortalized me in your music..

It's impossible to keep track of all of his great ones. Thanks so much for posting the original version of this song. The one we heard on AM radio back in early 1964. It sounds just as fresh today as it did then.
