Sweet Little 16
Chuck Berry Lyrics

They're really rockin Boston
In Pittsburgh, P. A.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis
Way down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen

Sweet Little Sixteen
She's just got to have
About half a million
Framed autographs
Her wallet's filled with pictures
She gets 'em one by one
She gets so excited
Watch her look at her run

Oh mommy mommy
Please may I go
It's such a sight to see
Somebody steal the show
Oh daddy daddy
I beg of you
Whisper to mommy
It's all right with you

'Cause they'll be rockin on bandstand
In Philadelphia P.A.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis
Way Down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen

Sweet Little Sixteen
She's got the grown up blues
Tight dress and lipstick
She's sportin' high heal shoes
Oh, but tomorrow morning
She'll have to chang her trend
And be sweet sixteen
And back in class again

'Cause they'll be rockin on bandstand
In Philadelphia P.A.
Deep in the heart of Texas And 'round the Frisco Bay
All over St. Louis Way Down in New Orleans
All the Cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen

Not Chuck Productions

@JC Clancy The inudsrty had been screwing/ ripping off African American musicians up until the 60s. Unless you were lucky enough a big name musician like Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong, or Little Richerd who was just as big with whites as blacks, you were screwed over and ripped off(Even then it wasn't a guarantee as i discovered a forgotten rock n roll song from the 50 called "Mother gose twist" that is a exact copy of chuck berry's Reelin and Rockin )
Its a fact i thought every person who fan of rock n roll knows this

JC Clancy

@Not Chuck Productions yes maybe because some of them had NO REASON to sue anyone. And because they weren’t as famous as other BLACK and white musicians

JC Clancy

@Not Chuck Productions unlike most black artists... SORRY what?

Not Chuck Productions

@giovanna yes but most black artist didn’t have the money to sue sadly.

giovanna

Chuck Berry's influence as a founding father of rock 'n' roll cannot be overstated

Well dang, Beach Boys! I never realized "Surfin' USA" was stolen from an earlier song.

Rafael Polman

@Ranjan Biswas of course surfin usa was a ripoff of a Chuck Berry melody no doubt there but to say that the sharing of the music and culture was a ‘horrific’ thing is a bit out of line.

Rafael Polman

@Ranjan Biswas it was early rock n roll, 3 chord 12 Bar blues with upbeat tempo. Everybody played each others songs and learned from each other. So you can also say they all ripped off rocket 88 and if you want to go further Robert Johnson or the jazz and blues artist before them. Music is from and for everybody and I think rock n roll and populair music only brought black and white people closer together to the point where everybody was dancing and nobody could give a rats ass which colour the singer had.
