Chuck Berry remains an influential figure and one of the pioneers of rock and roll music who first began performing in 1953. Cub Koda wrote, "Of all the early breakthrough rock & roll artists, none is more important to the development of the music than Chuck Berry. He is its greatest songwriter, the main shaper of its instrumental voice, one of its greatest guitarists, and one of its greatest performers." John Lennon was more succinct: "If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'."
Berry was among the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on its opening in 1986. He received Kennedy Center Honors in 2000 in a "class" with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Plácido Domingo, Angela Lansbury, and Clint Eastwood. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Chuck Berry #5 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. He was also ranked 6th on Rolling Stone's Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists of All Time.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included three of Chuck Berry's songs (Johnny B. Goode, Maybellene, Rock & Roll Music), of the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll.
Chuck Berry held a special place, in terms of sound development, in the formation of, Mersey-Beat at Liverpool.
The finest exponent of Chuck Berry, guitar, sound at Liverpool during 1959 to 1963, was Vincent Tow/Ismail, who in turn passed on many of the learned skills to Lennon & McCartney, his friends and colleagues during that period--1959 to 1962/3.
Chuck Berry also influenced many of the great rock 'n' roll bands that we know today including The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
Wonderful Woman
Chuck Berry Lyrics

This just makes my day
Yes a wonderful woman
She just woke my way
Well, I was standing in that tune like a leaf on a willow tree
Open the great big beautiful eyes following me
I keep just wish thinking but I hope that it still might be
Man she's so beautiful, she have long brown wavy hair
Wearing a form-fitting vest that was, whoa, all there
Man she could pull up a man in a beauty scene anywhere
You don't think
Have you ever seen a woman done harm your kid
Who would betray you twice and you know will still forgive
If you have, they were alive but most too beautiful to live
Man it's too good, she's all that I could hold and stare
By the star above she knew that my heart goes there
She just went over control my heart, but she didn't dare
When I feel this way I just sing what I just have to say
You know I need satisfaction, I didn't get any yesterday
Well it's up to me, if it be that she gets away
I feel good like's it party time, don't you know
It done blew my mind when she smiled and said hello
Well it broke my heart when she told me it's time to go
You know I wish you for luck
But I know I have to close the show
I but you was rocking me baby with your rhythm in the second row
Just thinking about it breaks my heart I have to let you go
Oh yeah

When I played with my band, The Roll Time Lovers, playing Chuck's music was an absolute must. I wrote the song, Chuck, as a tribute to him. He tought me how to play a guitar, not my way but his way.
Chuck
Lyrics and
music 1990
by Frank Rispoli
I went out and bought this old guitar, just to play a few songs for you, when I heard on
the radio about a gig ole Chuck was gonna do, So I got in my Ford and headed-on down the road, in the heat of the day just to hear him rock n Roll.
I read in the papers the FBI searching through his home, and they made a big deal about some videos and some green stuff they had found, but the crowd went wild, they came from miles and miles around, didn‘t give a damn about the stories, just wanted to hear him play his old Chuck Berry sound.
We were rockin‘ and a boppin‘ wantin’ to rock the whole night through, Chuck was slappin’ time on his cherry red Gibson, all of us singin’ Johnny B. Goode, and that’s the night I found what I’d been searching for, as we rocked the join down screaming for more and more.
I went home and dug out all of Chucks old songs, I practiced all his riffs until my fingers hurt down to the bones, and though they’ll never be as clean as Chuck will ever do, but
playin’ this guitar is still a legitimate thing to do.
I thank you Chuck and Mister Gibson for those great sounds of old, when I play my guitar and,……………... Chuck Berry’s rock n Roll……….

For a man in his 90's, he still had some high energy in the studio.

I will never forget Chuck Berry. The true king of rock and roll!
@ACEDIAMOND666
A great parting gift from the true king and founding father of rock and roll music. Thank you Chuck Berry for sharing your music with everyone. Without you, rock and roll music would not exist. R.I.P.(Rock In Peace).
P.S. Johnny B. Goode is the reason I became a rock musician. I was laying under my dad's grand piano when I was 3, in 1980, dad had the record blasting on the phonograph, and he was pounding along on the piano, and stirred a great desire in my soul to devote my life to playing music. I went and told my mom right away that I was going to be a rock and roll musician for the rest of my life....when I was 3! I'm nearing 41 now in 2018, and I am still playing rock and roll guitar.
Chuck, I can't thank you Enough.

I'm really digging this tune. It's sad he's gone but at least he left us with this gift, much like Bowie did the previous year.
