Iโฒll fly away
To that home on God's celestial shore
Iโฒll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away, in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
When the shadows of this life have gone
Iโฒll fly away
Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly
Iโฒll fly away
I'll fly away, fly away, oh glory
Iโฒll fly away, in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
Oh, how glad and happy when we meet
Iโฒll fly away
No more cold iron shackles on my feet
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
Iโฒll fly away, in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
Iโฒll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
Iโฒll fly away, in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
Just a few more weary days and then
Iโฒll fly away
To a land where joys will never end
I'll fly away
Iโฒll fly away, fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away, in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
Iโฒll fly away
The Chuck Wagon Gang's song "I'll Fly Away" speaks to the hope of a better existence beyond the confines of earthly life. The song's lyrics suggest that the burden of this life is comparable to a prison and, in death, the soul is freed from confinement and will take flight to that home on God's celestial shore. Even in death, the lyrics express a joyous attitude as the singer rejoices in the possibility of eternal happiness beyond the grave. This is a common thread in many gospel songs and conveys the theme of redemption and the victory of the human spirit over adversity.
The lyrics convey a clear sense of hope and faith, an optimism in the face of life's struggles, and a trust in God's plan. The hope of salvation is emphasized and the idea of heaven as a place of eternal joy and peace is reinforced. The "I'll fly away" refrain is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the desire for a release from earthly limitations and an entry into a higher realm.
Overall, "I'll Fly Away" celebrates the power of faith and the promise of a better existence beyond death. The song has been popular for many years and continues to inspire millions with its message of hope and its uplifting melody.

There was once a time when in my life,
I was condemned to die.
I was walking in my sinful ways.
Jesus paid the ransom for my soul,
I'll bid this world goodbye
When He calls me I'll fly, fly away.
When He calls, I will answer Here am I
I'm ready if He wants me to die
There's a mansion thats waiting me on high
And I'm going there by and by
I have made my preparations
From this world of separation.
I am walking on God's highway.
When He calls me I'm gonna fly,
I'm gonna fly away.
Well If He needs me in the harvest,
Helping gather in the sheaves
I will gladly labor on here below,
But if my work on Earth is finished,
And it's time for me to leave
When He calls me I will gladly go.
When He calls, I will answer Here am I,
I'm ready if He wants me to die.
There's a mansion that's waiting me on high
And I'm going there by and by
I have made my preparations
From this world of separation
I am walking on God's highway.
When He calls me, I'm gonna fly,
I'm gonna fly away.
