Just for you
Church Lyrics

Sometimes when the darkness loses its hold
I tread politely in the cold
Racking my brains
Pumping my veins
And taking the evening train from view
But you know I never wanted to
Ah, you know I did it just for you
And it's so easy to hurt me now
And you've forgotten anyhow
That certain ideas
Have changed through the years
I purchased some tears just to see me through
But you know I never wanted to
Ah, you know I did it just for you
One day I noticed the world at my feet
Next day comes and it rolls into the street
Gathering speed
Paying no heed
That made me bleed until I was blue
But you know I never wanted to
Ah, you know I did it just for you

I FREAKIN' LOVE THE WAY THE MIDDLE INSTRUMENTAL PART BUILDS UP AND THEN COMES BACK INTO THE MAIN GUITAR CHORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get a fantastic rush every time I hear it.

Another gorgeous tune. Such a beautiful sentiment from a time in Australia when things were a lot looser and happier than they are now. Proof that great music remains eternal.

An underrated album from a very underrated band.

Simplesmente linda essa música. Toca profundamente nossa alma. Adoro o The Church.

The Blurred Crusade... One of my favourite albums from the 80's....
And this song just keeps on rockin' !
As it did back then.

I've been a Sydney boy my whole life and was lucky enough to have been old enough in Sydney in the early eighties when the live music/pub scene was in full flight, awesome bands playing venues all over Sydney every night of the week.
Saw the Church many times and was never disappointed.
A great band full of great musicians and a master songwriter. Superb album!

Still my number one Church song after all these years. Something about it really moves me...

When I first heard the Blurred Crusade as an album it was late 1985 in Melbourne and I can assure you they were as dead as dead, forgotten and buried as any fringe/cool/paisley pretenders could possibly be at the time. In fact their time had long passed. The kids at uni were starting to get into dance music, and being a DJ was now cooler than being in a band. So songs like, You Spin me Round baby right round, had the girls and boys excited. There were lonely guys who still pursued indie guitar stuff but the girls had long switched off. I knew I was fatally screw+d about then, because I love the bass pushing and those layers of acoustic guitars, Steve's murmor/growl..and so I'm still here thirty five years later! Blurred Crusade my ass...road to nowhere !

Pure magic!
