Ciaran was… Read Full Bio ↴Ciaran McMeeken is a New Zealand based Singer-songwriter.
Ciaran was raised in Arrowtown, New Zealand, and has been playing music since he was 11 years old. After moving to Dunedin for secondary school, Ciaran started playing drums and then switched to guitar and singing a few years later. His introduction to music and his rapid development as a songwriter came at a surprise to those around him given that he does not come from a musical family.
Ciaran recently moved to Auckland to focus on his music, spending the last two years writing, recording and performing. His debut EP ‘The Valley’ caught the attention of acclaimed producer Greg Haver, who worked with Ciaran to produce the highly anticipated 'Screaming Man'.
Recently described by Australian music blog Ear To The Ground as “Adam Levine’s earthy, indie cousin” Ciaran’s honesty makes him stand apart from the pack, with both heartfelt lyrics and a smooth voice lending themselves perfectly to a strong emotional sound that is hard to ignore.
Taking inspiration from artists such as John Mayer, Bon Iver and Ben Harper, infusing elements of pop, folk and acoustic in his own sound, with an ever-growing fanbase and a genuine raw talent, Ciaran McMeeken is one to watch.
Ciaran's sophomore EP 'Screaming Man' is available to download now.

BOY
Ciaran mcmeeken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You are lookin' at a boy, that doesn't know who he is
And you are lookin' at a boy, that nearly lost it all
You are lookin' at a boy, that can't recall where he
came from
And you are lookin' at a boy, that's barely holdin' on
Encapsulated in disease, and standing here on his own
Was violated by a screen, that reads it can't be done
Captivated by nothing, inspiring lives surely bring me
down
Was motivated by a dream, but it's on the verge of
dying now
This is all I can do now - You are looking at a boy
The lyrics to Ciaran McMeeken's song Boy explore themes of identity, struggle, and perseverance. The song opens with the line "You are looking at a boy that doesn't know who he is" and sets the tone for the rest of the track. The singer is lost, unable to recall where he came from and barely holding on.
The second verse speaks to the challenges the singer has faced, being "encapsulated in disease" and violated by a screen that tells him what he can't do. Despite this, he was once motivated by a dream, but now he feels like it's on the verge of dying out. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for the struggles and setbacks we all face when pursuing our goals and dreams.
The final line of the chorus, "This is all I can do now," reinforces the theme of perseverance. Even though the singer is struggling and lost, he's still doing everything he can to keep going. This sentiment is echoed in the final verse, which speaks to the power of being inspired by others to keep going, even in our darkest moments.
Overall, the lyrics to Boy are poignant and introspective, offering a glimpse into the struggles of someone trying to find their way in the world.
