1) Cicada (蟬樂團)… Read Full Bio ↴There are multiple artists using the moniker Cicada;
1) Cicada (蟬樂團) is a five-piece neo-classical instrumental band from Taipei, Taiwan. Formed in 2009, the instrumentation consists of violin, cello, piano and acoustic guitar. The band is named after Cicada because "people are aware of cicada's existence by their sound instead of forms".
In 2013, Cicada began to compose for Taiwan. The theme of “Coastland” was the west coastland, and “Light Shining Through the Sea” was inspired by the east coast and the Pacific Ocean. “White Forest” released in 2017 drew inspiration from marine life such as humpback whales, dolphins, coral reefs and sea turtles. Cicada walked into the mountain from the ocean on their 10th year and released the hiking journal “Hiking in the Mist”. In 2022, their focus switched to the valleys and forests. “Seeking the Sources of Streams” comprised moments of roaming the mountains.

Cicada Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I wish I had known the best song I could do
Felt like I was trembling, trying and I was stumbling down
I know, I feel like the best thing that I deserve
Is I won't drown in my tears
You say enough, the days are dark for you
Now that I know the past is something blue
Felt like I was trembling, trying and I was stumbling down
And I won't drown in my tears
Dry my tears
These lyrics seem to communicate a sense of struggle and hardship, and the uncertainty that often accompanies such difficulties. The first two lines suggest that the singer has been going through some tough times, and it seems that they may have been keeping their emotions to themselves. However, in retrospect, the singer wishes they had expressed themselves more fully and perhaps sought help from others.
The next few lines suggest that the singer has been in a state of turmoil, feeling unsteady and unsure of themselves. However, they express a sense of hope that things will get better, that they won't give in to their tears, and that they'll find a way to rise above their current struggles.
In the final lines, the singer seems to be acknowledging that they are in a better place, that they have found some emotional stability, and that their tears have dried up. It's a hopeful and positive message that suggests that even in the midst of difficulty, it's possible to find a way forward.
