The song’s beginning shows the imaginary situation as the starting point of the introspection path.
The singer is fully aware that his feelings can only be accepted and experienced with their whole energy, but there is nothing he can do about them. He misses her, but she decided to stop the relationship. The lyrics go through the symbols of the lovely part of the past relationship: the pictures hung in the bedroom are now in a drawer, showing her full intentions to move on.
The singer misses her so much that he hopes he can have one last chance to kiss her, believing it could make her come back.
They are all familiar feelings of a breakup. Sadness is how our psyche gives meaning to what we have (or had) in life, and you can’t escape it. You often only need to let time pass by and wait patiently until acceptance becomes easier to adopt. Meanwhile, expressing sadness is a perfect way to accelerate the processing time, and that’s what Cigarettes After Sex are doing with this song.

I'm out in the desert shooting at the sky
Guess I really miss you
And I don't know what else to do
Beautiful pictures that you took of us
Used to hang up there on your bedroom walls
But you took 'em all down now
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind so long I can't deal with it
You've been on my mind
And I'll waste my time
'Til you lift me off the floor and love me again
I know if I saw you and we kissed just once
You could be happy, maybe you'd come back
'Cause I really miss you
Don't know how much more I can take
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind
You've been on my mind so long I can't deal with it
You've been on my mind
And I'll waste my time
'Til you lift me off the floor and love me again
Oh yeah
'Til you lift me off the floor and love me again
Oh yeah
The lyrics to Cigarettes After Sex's song Pistol are about a person who is feeling lost and alone after a breakup. They are out in the desert shooting a pistol at the sky because they don't know what else to do and they're trying to cope with the pain of missing their ex-lover. They reminisce about the beautiful pictures that their ex-lover took of them which used to be hung up on their bedroom walls, but have now been put away in a drawer. The person is desperately hoping for their ex-lover's return, and they feel like they can't deal with the pain of missing them any longer.
The chorus is a repetition of the phrase "You've been on my mind" which adds to the idea that the person is consumed by the thoughts of their ex-lover and is struggling to move on. They are willing to waste their time until their ex-lover comes back and lifts them off the floor, suggesting that they feel like they're stuck and unable to move forward without them. The last line of the song is repeated twice, "Til you lift me off the floor and love me again", which emphasizes the idea that the person is still in love with their ex and is hoping for a reconciliation.
Overall, the song Pistol is a beautiful and emotional testament to the pain of heartbreak and the overwhelming desire to be loved again. It emphasizes the struggle and hopelessness of trying to cope with the pain of missing someone and the desperate longing for their return.

I love this song.
It's different than the other cas songs, but it still has the core essence.
I like that the lyrics aren't intimate anymore. They're more heartfelt and confrontational.
This is probably the first song that would play in my mind, when I'm out looking at the moon reminiscing.
The intimacy isn't physical anymore, but it's emotional. That's how life is. Once we get past the intimate impulses (we were all young once), we start valuing emotions a lot more.
I'll be content if this is the last cas song. It feels like a fitting end to a journey. Like running off into the sunset, past the horizon.
