In 2007, the oldest five girls of the family launched Cimorelli as a vocal group. They recorded covers of charting songs and uploaded them to YouTube every few weeks.
In 2008, the girls released their first EP Cimorelli. Each song was written by Christina and Lauren with the vocal harmonies arranged by Lisa. It has not been released under a record label.
Cimorelli became clients of Sugababes manager Sarah Stennett in 2009. In 2010, their youngest sister, Dani joined the band. The entire family of 11 children moved to Southern California so the girls could pursue their music career. They signed with Universal, and released the CimFam EP in iTunes on December 6, 2011. The EP features an original song and five covers.
In May 2012, Cimorelli won "The Bieber-Off", a contest by Ryan Seacrest where they covered Justin Bieber's hit "Boyfriend". In July, they were nominated for "Choice Web Star" at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards.
On December 3, Cimorelli announced they will be releasing the EP, Believe It on iTunes and Amazon, and their title track's music video on their VEVO YouTube channel, on December 11.
On June 18 Cimorelli released their fourth EP named "Made in America". It consisted of four songs which were all original - one of which was a studio version of their song Wings.
On May 4, 2014, Cimorelli performed at DigiFest in London. On June 7, 2014, Cimorelli performed at DigiFest NYC. On June 14, 2014, Cimorelli performed at DigiFest Toronto. In June of 2014, Cimorelli launched a web series entitled "Summer with Cimorelli", which was sponsored by the restaurant franchise Subway. Cimorelli began releasing new music on June 5, 2014 with their first single from their upcoming EP/Album "What I Do". The second single "Everything You Have", also featured in the girls' web series, was released on June 9, 2014. On August 25, 2014, the girls released their third single "Come Over". They released their fifth EP, Renegade, on October 27, 2014. The group's first full-length album is expected to be released in late 2014.

Up at Night
Cimorelli Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The holes in the front
I'm tryna pick out just the right outfit to get your attention
You in that plaid shirt
Could give me a heart attack
Thinking to myself "This could be trouble" but sometimes I like that
I can see my breath
In this cold night air
Yeah, you got a hold on me
I danced across the parking lot
So nervous, but I laughed it off
Now I can't stop looking at my phone
Just wanna see your name!
When I close my eyes, all I see is me right there
In his front seat
His headlights pouring down my street
I try to forget, but I can't lie
His words keep me up at night!
If it's 4:30, and I can't sleep
You don't have to guess
What's keeping me up at night
What's keeping me up at night
Sittin' on the tailgate
Head on your shoulder
I love that you drove all the way out here just to get closer
Last night our phone call
Lasted for hours
I was in my bed whispering trying not to wake up my sister
Outside my front door
When you drop me off
Before I go in take a second just to breath in this moment
Reality sets in
Maybe I don't like your shoes
And you might think sometimes I'm rude
Well that's true
But still you find a way to never let me sleep!
When I close my eyes, all I see is me right there
In his front seat
His headlights pouring down my street
I try to forget, but I can't lie
His words keep me up at night!
If it's 4:30, and I can't sleep
You don't have to guess
What's keeping me up at night
What's keeping me up at night
I couldn't stop
This if I tried
When all the streets whisper your name when I go by
I'm making wishes 'bout you
Heading to my car
Running through the summer rain
Screamin' at the stars
When I close my eyes, all I see is me right there
In his front seat
His headlights pouring down my street
I try to forget, but I can't lie
His words keep me up at night!
If it's 4:30, and I can't sleep
You don't have to guess
What's keeping me up at night
What's keeping me up at night
You're keeping me up at night
You're keeping me up at night
The lyrics of "Up at Night" by Cimorelli depict a young girl who is infatuated with someone she is attracted to. She describes putting on her jeans with holes, carefully selecting an outfit to catch the person's attention. The sight of the person in a plaid shirt makes her heart race, and she acknowledges that the trouble they could bring sometimes excites her. The girl is mesmerized by the person's appearance as they put their hood up, and she admits that they have a hold on her.
The song progresses to a scene where the girl is so nervous that she dances across the parking lot but laughs it off. She can't help checking her phone repeatedly, hoping to see a message from the person she likes. She fantasizes about sitting in their front seat, their headlights lighting up the street, but she tries to forget her feelings because they keep her up at night. The girl confesses that even at 4:30 in the morning, when she can't sleep, it's the person on her mind.
The second verse reveals that the person has made an effort to be closer to the girl by driving to see her. Their phone conversations last for hours, and the girl tries not to wake her sister while whispering in bed. When the person drops her off, she savors the moment before reality sets in. The girl acknowledges that she may not always like everything about the person, and she can be rude, but they still manage to keep her awake.
Overall, "Up at Night" portrays the internal struggle of a girl who is consumed by her infatuation, unable to forget the person who occupies her thoughts and keeps her up at night.

In the video where they explained all the lyrics & meanings of the songs on the album, I didn't understand what Christina meant about the double meaning of this song. I listened to it so many times trying to feel that darker side but watching this through made me understand and I got chills. This is my favorite song now. It epitomizes so much all of a relationship, the beginnings and amazing in-betweens and missing and then the breakup all the demise, destruction.

my first time all i could feel was the dark side, and i tried to see the happy side. I guess it just depends where you are in life & what your emotions are. Now i definitely see the happy side 💕
