For a period of eight years from 1992 until August 2000, Zachary Stevens was the lead singer of Savatage. After five albums with the group, he left in 2000 citing family reasons. During the winter of 2001, Zak started his comeback with long-time friend and co founder of the band, Dan Campbell, co-writing material with former Savatage lead singer Jon Oliva and guitarist Chris Caffery what would become the songs for the Circle II Circle debut album, Watching in Silence. The second CIIC record The Middle of Nowhere featured Zak's vocals along with band members Paul Michael Stewart, Andy Lee, Tom Drennan and Evan Christopher.
The band's third release was a concept album, entitled Burden of Truth, based around the concept of Jesus' descendants. It was released on June 6, 2006. Stevens and the band then signed with Intromental Management. Their fourth album, entitled Delusions of Grandeur, was released on April 25, 2008.
Artwork for the band's logo and first three album covers were designed by Dan Campbell and rendered by artist Thomas Ewerhard. Additional artwork for the concept album Consequence of Power (2010) was created by Claudio Bergamin. On January 25, 2013, Circle II Circle released their Seasons Will Fall album on earMusic. The live album, Bootleg Live at Wacken 2012, was released on June 20, 2014. A studio album, Reign of Darkness, was released on October 16, 2015. On December 7, 2016, their former drummer, Adam Sagan, died from cancer at the age of 35.

End of Emotion
Circle II Circle Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Drifting aimlessly
A course for which we sail
Sorrow's sweet release
Reflecting in the words you say
Too blind to know
We never show
See the walls created
All the time we're fascinated
Mirrors distract from the truth
That stands right there
Waiting for you
Never knew dreams lead to a dark despair
Have you felt the eyes of a demon stare
Never felt the same things
That you will inside this night
Remember when the end
Of emotion was here
Forever in the wake
Of an ocean of fear
We're stealing the day
And we're running away tonight
Surrender to the past
Inside this lonely time
I believe there's something
Covered in the lies
On their wings salvation flies
Written in the sands of time
Souls appear at last
Painting shadows
Of the visions
Spinning all around you
If you care to know
The questions of the past have found you
Never knew dreams lead to a dark despair
Have you felt the eyes of a demon stare
Never felt the same things
That you will inside this night
Lost along the way
To the unknown side
Helpless in the way
That you're feeling this time
We're stealing the day
And we're running away tonight
The lyrics to Circle II Circle's song End of Emotion describe the existential nature of life, comparing it to the aimless drifting of the night. The course we sail is one of uncertainty, with sorrow offering a sweet release. The words we say reflect our inner selves - the parts of ourselves we don't show to the world, the parts that know our deepest fears and desires. The walls we create for ourselves prevent us from seeing the truth that stands before us, distracted by the mirrors we place there instead. The song encourages the listener to embrace the unknown, to surrender to the past, and to believe that salvation can be found on the wings of time, where our souls will eventually rest.
There's an underlying theme of darkness and fear throughout the song, with references to demons and dark despair. The question of whether we've ever felt those same things is posed, implying that many of us may have, but never show it to the world. The end of emotion is presented as a moment in time, forever in the wake of an ocean of fear, where we must steal the day and run away to escape the overwhelming weight of uncertainty.
Overall, the lyrics to End of Emotion are reflective, mysterious, and thought-provoking. They encourage us to embrace the unknown, to confront our deepest fears, and to find salvation in the passing of time.
