Although early on touring was impractical due to school, Circle of Contempt were still capable of building a strong fan base throughout Europe, and especially Finland. Having played only a handful of “one-off” shows and a couple of mini-tours, it was decided that in the summer of 2008 they would record their first EP, “Color Lines”. Soon after completing Color Lines, the band’s management handed a copy off to Sumerian Records label founder Ash Avildsen, who made them an offer on the spot. The band released it's debut album in the autumn of 2009 and completed 3 full US tours. Now after a 1,5 year hiatus Circle of Contempt is preparing a release of new EP in December 2012 and is going to hit the stage stronger than ever.

Concealed
Circle Of Contempt Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They will sink forever clutching their secrets
With all the leaders, all the inside jobs
(Hold your tongue) By trial and error
(Hold your tongue) our masters are still holding their tongues
Pay no attention to the consequence of ages, the dreaded years of wrath
They will sink forever, find your captive strength and fight
They will sink forever, find shelter underneath the arms of this circle
The lyrics in Circle Of Contempt's song "Concealed" paint a grim picture of individuals becoming paralyzed and eventually drowning in quicksand, unable to do anything other than hold on to their secrets. The song alludes to the corruption found in those in positions of power, and how they will do anything to keep their secrets safe. The line "with all the leaders, all the inside jobs" implies that even those we see as leaders are not to be completely trusted.
The next two lines, "By trial and error, our masters are still holding their tongues" suggest that even if we, as a society, learn from past mistakes and try to hold those in power accountable, they will continue to hide their secrets and deceive us. The lyrics then urge the listener to ignore the consequences of inaction and fight against the corrupt powers that be: "find your captive strength and fight... find shelter underneath the arms of this circle."
Overall, "Concealed" is a warning against blindly trusting those in power, and a call to action for people to stand up for what they believe in, even in the face of danger and oppression.

Thanks for taking time to breakdown what the term breakdown really meant. I'm an older metal-head and really haven't kept up to date with all of the terms used in describing certain aspects of of a song. I kinda work off of a gut feeling I get while listening to music and my gut tells me that I like when songs have a breakdown on occasion. Thanks for the info!

This is what breakdown means! Definition: Used in various genres of heavy metal, especially in metalcore, a breakdown consists of slowing a song down to give the guitars room to play a set of rhythmically oriented riffs. The drummer accents the riffs with the double kick bass drum. Vocalists many time use a single, repeated statement throughout the breakdown. There you go!!
