Stars
Circulatory System Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here we go around the world
Just to find it's all a dream
Good thing your dream is your reality
Who wants to rise above?

How long has it been for the stars
Up in the sky?
And how long has it been

For the things you know?
Here we go up on a cloud

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Circulatory System's "Stars" are a surreal and introspective contemplation on the nature of reality and perception. The opening lines "Here we go around the world, just to find it's all a dream" suggest that the singer has been on a journey or quest for knowledge or meaning, only to discover that everything they have experienced and observed may not be real, but rather a construct of their own mind. Yet, the following line "Good thing your dream is your reality" suggests that even if our reality is illusory, it's still important and impactful to us. The final line "Who wants to rise above?" can be interpreted as a questioning of the desire to transcend our perceived realities and discover the true nature of existence.

The next stanza shifts focus to the stars, asking how long it has been for them since they have been in the sky, and how long it has been for the listener since they have experienced the things they know. This could be seen as a commentary on the relative nature of time, and how our perceptions of it can be vastly different from other entities like celestial bodies. The final line "Here we go up on a cloud" returns to the idea of transportation and journeying, perhaps suggesting that we are always searching for something higher or more profound.

Finally listening to elephant 6 again. I was so lost that I just couldn't listen to some of my favorite music...because it was too painful of a reminder of what I thought I had lost. The magic has come back and I'm able to handle the messages again. I love you guys so much. I miss you. I believe again. Thank you for what you've done for me...but it was a lot to handle in terms of the levels of consciousness some of these albums helped me achieved. And after I fell...It was scary to climb back up.
