This band were first called The Stormeville Shakers. Their rare progressive album is now of minor interest to collectors. Mel Collins was later in King Crimson and Kokomo. Philip Goodhand-Tait had earlier recorded three 45s for Parlophone and after his spell with Circus he went on to record several solo albums. Chris Burrows had earlier played with Ray Anton and The Proform, and later had some involvement with Spirit Of John Morgan and Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come.
Their album was reissued on CD by Castle in August 2000.
Do You Dream? is a delightful piece of psychedelic pop and their first 45 was produced by Mike D'Abo.
Chris Burrows later became a Buddhist monk, releasing four CDs of Buddhist percussion/chanting for the New Beginnings label.

3. A Swiss progressive rock band in the 1970's. The band is best known for the album "Movin' On" (1977).

They came apart around 1980, because it was not possible for them to make a living with progressive music - but their music lives on on the records :-)

Une vieille histoire dépassée
Elle est gravée dans mon esprit
J'en ai crevé dans mon lit
Il faudrait casser les miroirs
Il faudrait perdre la mémoire
Il te fait souffrir, ce souvenir
C'est inutile de s'en souvenir
Mais peut-on vivre sans souvenir?
À quoi ça sert de s'accrocher
Hier ne revient jamais
Tout me rappelle toutes mes nuits
Tous les fragments de ma vie
Il faudrait chasser les fantômes
Au fond de nous tuer les mômes
Oublie ce souvenir
Il te fait souffrir, ce souvenir
C'est inutile de s'en souvenir
Mais peut-on vivre sans souvenir?
Oublie ce souvenir
Oublie ce souvenir

The lyrics to "Souvenir" by Circus convey the idea of the burden of memories and the difficulty of letting go of the past. The singer is haunted by memories of a past love and attempts to forget them by erasing the memories and suppressing the emotions associated with them. The opening line, "À quoi ça sert tout ce passé" ("What good is all this past"), reflects the singer's frustration with the pain that the memories are causing. They describe the memories as an "old, outdated story" that is engraved in their mind and causing them physical and emotional pain.
The singer wishes to break the cycle of remembering by shattering mirrors and erasing their memories. The lines "Il faudrait casser les miroirs, il faudrait perdre la mémoire" ("We should break the mirrors, we should lose our memory") describe this desire to forget. However, they soon realize that it is impossible to completely erase memories and that these memories are a part of who they are. The last lines of the chorus, "C'est inutile de s'en souvenir, mais peut-on vivre sans souvenir?" ("It's pointless to remember, but can we live without memories?"), reflect this realization.
Overall, the lyrics present a universal struggle with memories and the desire to forget, while recognizing the importance of memories in shaping who we are.
