Formed in the Lower East Side of New York by Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Gary Sunshine (bass) and Ryan Maher (drums), their rough and rugged New York gutter image set them apart from emerging west coast sleaze bands. They toiled in the New York bar scene for years before RCA picked up on their blues-based, AC/DC influenced brand of metal. For Vices, the group moved Sunshine to guitar, and added bassist Zowie as the fifth member. But their brand of raunchy rock 'n' roll failed to catch on and the band was dropped.
The band revamped with Zowie being replaced by Mark Frappeir, and Maher by Victor Indrizzo respectively. They signed to Columbia and relocated to Los Angeles, but by the time Magic & Madness saw the light of day, the hard rocking music of the eighties was out of style. Circus Of Power disbanded in the mid-nineties without much fanfare, but has periodically played one-off shows.
Sunshine recorded with NY Loose, The Silos as well as a solo artist since the break-up. Mitchell fronted Uncle Max's Cosmic Band and its offshoot Fat Nancy, as well as writing a book titled "Life Is A Phantom K-Mart Horse Starting Up In The Middle Of The Night". Victor Indrizzo became the drummer of the much celebrated desert rock band Masters of Reality and a prominent session musician.

She made a man hard in his jeans
She came to me on wheels of fire
She's giving me electric desire
They call her cosmic motorcycle queen
Do it right just to come in clean
I'd rather have myself a little witch, man
So come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
She got the wind blowing through her hair
Don't tell her nothing, baby, she don't care
She's not the kind you take with home to mama
But not the kind you keeping under cover
She's got the devil down in her soul
Jammin' the baddest rock 'n' roll
She's here today but she's gone tomorrow
She'll make you steal, beg, cheat or borrow
Come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
Ah, come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
She's finalizing all situations
She is the rock child of creation
She can slither like a snake in the sand
Just like a dog I wanna be her man
She touched my hand I got a coronary
Inside her legs I got sanctuary
The doctor hooked me to a blood machine
I was the worst case he'd ever seen
Come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
Come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
I said come on baby, start dressing up in black
I got a heart attack
