Henry opened eighteen concerts for The Beatles across the US & Canada (1964) - However, his main source of income was from the Bourbon St strip (New Orleans), where he played for nineteen years. His name could still draw hordes of tourists, long after his hit-making days had ended. "Ain't Got No Home", achieved fresh notoriety in the 1990s - through its use, for a time, as the "Homeless Update" theme music, on The Rush Limbaugh Show.
Clarence Henry's pioneering contribution, to the genre, has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Mark Sandman (lead singer / bass player, of the rock band Morphine) - during a home-studio interview - cited Frogman as an important influence.

I don't know why I cry so, but I do
I only know I'm lonely and that I want you only
I don't know why I love you, but I do
I can't sleep nights because I feel so restless
I don't know what to do, I feel so helpless
And since you've been away, I cry both night and day
My days have been so lonely
My nights have been so blue
I don't know how I stand it, but I do
Each night I sit alone and tell myself
That I will fall in love with someone else
I guess I'm wastin' time, but I've got to clear my mind
I don't know why I love you, but I do
Clarence "Frogman" Henry's song "But I Do" is a classic example of a lovesick ode. The song is from the point of view of someone who is deeply in love with someone else and cannot understand why. The lyrics express the confusion and pain the person feels, as they try to make sense of their emotions.
In the first verse, the singer emphasizes their confusion by saying they don't know why they love the person, but they do. This lyric is repeated throughout the song to reinforce the idea that the singer is mystified by their emotions. The second part of the verse introduces the idea that the singer feels emotional pain, but they do not understand why. This line sets up the rest of the song, as the singer continues to explore their feelings of loneliness and heartbreak.
The following verses continue to express the singer's pain and confusion. They can't sleep at night, and they feel restless and helpless. They cry all the time, and their days and nights are filled with loneliness and sadness. Despite this pain, the singer cannot seem to let go of their love for this person.
In the final verse, the singer tries to convince themselves that they will fall in love with someone else, but they know they are wasting their time. They don't know why they love this person, but they do. The song ends without any resolution or understanding of the singer's emotions, leaving the listener to sympathize with their pain and confusion.

I remember this song being played on the radio when it was first released and I was still at school. My dad loved it and we would sing along to it together whenever it was played. Dad passed away in 1964 aged 55. Whenever I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes. I'm 69 now and it seems like it was only yesterday.x
